Sometimes we hold onto things because we want to be responsible and not just do what we think is throwing it into a landfill. Did you know you can take old crayons, colored pencils, highlighters, pens, markers, regular pencils to Staples for recycling? (Also if you need to just throw these things away so they don't add to your overwhelm and clutter, that's okay too!)

No, unfortunately body doubling doesn’t mean have your clone do the decluttering for you!

The idea behind a body double is that it’s easier for us to focus when someone nearby is also focusing on their own task. Their presence alone provides support and motivation for our own work.

What could this look like for you? You could decide that while your partner cleans up the kitchen after a meal, you will spend that time sorting the mail or picking up the clothes that have collected in the living room.

A body double does not have to be physically present. Try setting up a video or phone call with a friend. You might chat and catch up a bit at first, but then just leave the line open while the two of you work in silence. Agree upon how long you’ll work before wrapping up the call.
