How to tell if your property’s birch trees are secretly dying 🌲⚠️

Birch trees are a beautiful staple of the Alaskan landscape, but they are notoriously brittle when they decline. Because they rot from the inside out, a tree can look perfectly fine at first glance while actually posing a major hazard to your home, driveway, or power lines.

Before the high winds and heavy snow loads hit, take a walk through your yard and look for these critical warning signs:

☑️Birch Dieback: Bare, brittle branches at the very top of the canopy mean the tree is actively losing its water and nutrient supply.

☑️Gut Rot Conks: Hard, shelf-like mushrooms growing directly out of the trunk mean the interior structural wood is already decayed and hollow.

Take a close look at your trees this week folks, winter is coming!
