A trip to San Miguel just isn’t complete without a stop at Dirk Jan Kinet’s shop at Fábrica La Aurora. I’ve followed his work for a couple of years, so I was thrilled to finally meet him in person. He was just as delightful as I’d hoped, and his shop is full of the kind of interesting, unexpected things I love. I could have browsed all afternoon!

Up before dawn to head to San Miguel, and this beautiful painting gave me the loveliest send-off: SOLD!

This atmospheric French landscape by Jean-Paul Ferron was such a wonderful find. I love the quiet village, the soft lavender sky, and those ribbons of warm peach light reflected across the water. Ferron often found inspiration in the Loire, and his sensitivity to light is so special.

I’ll wrap and ship this beauty as soon as I’m home. So happy it found a new home! ✨

A quiet village, still water, and the last warm light along the shore.

This atmospheric landscape is by French painter Jean Paul Ferron, an artist drawn to the shifting skies and luminous light of the Loire. I love the way the soft blue-violet sky and green hills meet those glowing ribbons of peach and gold.

Ten years ago today, on my very first attempt at fly fishing, I caught my first trout. 🎣

Tom and I spent several wonderful days at Cow Creek Ranch as guests of his best friend, with whom he had also done business for many years.

The ranch is no longer operating as it did then, but every year at this time, I find myself longing to go back—to that beautiful water, the lodge and those quiet New Mexico mountains.

Some places never quite let you go. Maybe it’s time for another fly-fishing trip.
