Confession- I waited 6 months to do a 30 minute project 🤣
The front hallway still needed two additional coats of poly, but I was determined to move in anyway - we laid paper down to protect it and went on with life.
It was finally cool enough this week to open up all the doors and windows to get it done ! ✨

Family history dates our home to 1851, but I believe our living room to be older. The chair rail is also the bottom of the windows- this was a Federal style practice that should be 1830’s at the latest.
Perhaps the Greek revival mantle was added later along with the front rooms?
Also, Carter Boozer married Leticia Scott of the then-adjoining Bent Creek Farm in 1844, where would they have lived during those seven years ?

Growing up my grandparents canned all summer like their life depended on it, because just a few decades back it had. It’s interesting how much has changed in just a few generations- now we mostly preserve food for fun and flavor, but it’s good to keep the old traditions going. 😋 🍇

Today’s project was one i’ve been putting off for a while. 🤣 A coat of poly on the master bedroom exterior wood wall and curtains hung. The room felt cooler right away !

We have been trying to find a custom mattress for our “new” antique bed but haven‘t had any luck. If you have any places to recommend please share! The 75 year old mattress that came with it isn’t cutting it. 🤣 Sincerely, MamaNeedsSomeSleep 😴

Thank you to Peachtree Battle Estate Sales & Liquidations for the wonderful experience. We were able to bring home this early 19th century 4-post bed w/ matching trundle bed.

This officially makes every piece of furniture, in our master bedroom mid-19th century.

Except for the 75 year old mattress that came with the bed, but we will quickly be updating that once we find someone that can customize a new mattress.
