When you are growing more than a few plants, the math starts to matter. 💦🫑🌶️

A gallon of Lost Coast Plant Therapy Concentrate mixes with water to make up to 128 gallons of spray. That is a lot of coverage from one jug, especially when you are moving through rows of peppers, greenhouse benches, or a bigger garden.

That is why we like to make checking the plant part of the routine. Look at the buds, run your eye along the stems, turn a few leaves over, and notice anything that looks different from the day before. A small issue is a lot easier to deal with when you catch it early. 🔎 🌱

Greenhouses and grow tents give us more control over our growing environment, but thrips, aphids, whiteflies, and spider mites can still find their way in. Regular plant checks are especially important because catching a small problem early is much easier than dealing with a well established infestation.

As we move through late summer, keep an eye on new growth, stems, and the undersides of leaves. Warm conditions can help pests like thrips, aphids, and spider mites build their populations quickly. 🪴

You can see almost every stage of ripening in one row here, from green fruit still developing to peppers turning yellow, orange, and deep red. Depending on the variety, that color change is part of the ripening process, and it usually means more sweetness and a fuller flavor are on the way.

By this point in the season, these plants have already done a lot of work. They have pushed through heat, wind, rain, flowering, fruit set, and months of outdoor growing. Keeping them healthy all the way through harvest matters just as much as getting them off to a good start. 🌱
