Matt attended the October 14 NHBOA seminar, Plan Review for Compartmentation in Type V-A Construction, presented by Wayne Barrow, and received 3 contact hours of continuing education.
The seminar focused on how compartmentation is addressed during plan review for Type V-A construction, including the importance of properly identifying fire-resistance-rated assemblies, fire walls, fire barriers, fire partitions, and other details that help limit the spread of fire and smoke throughout a building.
These are important details for framing crews to understand because the way walls, floors, ceilings, penetrations, and connections are built can directly affect whether the required fire-resistance rating is maintained in the field.
He continues attending these trainings to better understand the requirements being reviewed by building officials and to help ensure the work is completed correctly from the framing stage forward.
