New World Orchids was founded by Dr. Glenn Lehr and his late wife Maria in the 1990's. Glenn was the first American to bring Neofinetia falcata, the Samurai Orchid of Japan, to the United States. He was also the first American to be invited into the Japanese Fuukiran
Society. In over 20 years of growing orchids, Glenn has won numerous awards both for individual plants and for his spectacular displays. Recently, Glenn has accepted Dr. Kristen Uthus to be his up-and-coming apprentice in the field of Japanese orchids. Kristen has a PhD in plant ecology and a passion for orchids. Together, Kristen and Glenn hope to make more people aware of the beauty of Japanese orchids and the ease with which they are grown. New World Orchids is located in Manchester, MI.
