Black Friday affiliate marketing isn’t about throwing a bunch of links into a blog post and hoping someone buys something.

It’s about knowing what your readers are looking for, helping them compare their options, and recommending products that genuinely make sense for them.

And here’s something worth remembering: You don’t have to start from scratch every holiday season!

Your existing product reviews, tutorials, gift guides, and comparison posts may already contain opportunities you’re overlooking.

I’ve updated my Black Friday affiliate marketing guide on Biannual Blog-A-Thon Bash with practical strategies for preparing your content, choosing relevant offers, using email without overwhelming subscribers, and tracking what actually earns commissions.

The goal? Create content that works during Black Friday AND remains useful long after the sales end.

Somebody is feeling handsome today.

Full strut, tail fanned, not a care in the world - just showing off for whoever walks past.

Be honest: does your place have a show-off too, or is this fellow in a league of his own?

Spiders weaving their webs, praying mantises waiting among the leaves, and carnivorous plants with their extraordinary traps all have a place in a wonderfully spooky garden.

But there's more to these creatures and plants than their Halloween appearance.

Many play important roles in the garden ecosystem, and learning about them makes the garden even more fascinating.

From the Garden to the Table - Homemade Coleslaw!

YUM! There's nothing quite like a big bowl of homemade coleslaw made with fresh vegetables straight from the garden!

I'm taking a beautiful head of cabbage, chopping it into bite-sized pieces, adding colorful carrots, and mixing everything together with a creamy dressing.

It's simple, delicious, and one of those from-scratch recipes that really lets the freshness of homegrown vegetables shine!

Here's how it all comes together:

First, I remove the outer cabbage leaves, wash the cabbage, cut the head into manageable sections, and slice the cabbage into thin strips. I like having a little texture in my coleslaw, so I don't make every piece perfectly uniform.

Next comes the carrots! Dice them up! They add beautiful color, natural sweetness, and a little extra crunch.

Then I add the creamy dressing and toss everything together until the vegetables are evenly coated.

The secret to really good homemade coleslaw is giving the flavors a little time to mingle in the refrigerator before serving. The cabbage softens slightly while still retaining that wonderful crunch.

I love serving homemade coleslaw alongside barbecue, pulled pork sandwiches, fried chicken, burgers, or a hearty homestead dinner. It's also a wonderful way to use a generous cabbage harvest without making everything into sauerkraut!

And here's a little tip: If your cabbage is especially juicy, lightly salting the shredded cabbage and draining off the excess liquid before adding the dressing can help keep your coleslaw from becoming watery.

For me, this is what growing our own food is all about. Taking fresh vegetables from the garden and turning them into something delicious that everyone can enjoy!

How do you like your coleslaw? Sweet and creamy, tangy with vinegar, or somewhere in between?

I'd love to hear your favorite way to make it!

From Whole Dried Herbs and Spices to Homemade Seasoning Blends!

There's something so satisfying about making my own seasonings right here in the homestead kitchen!

I'm taking whole dried herbs and spices, adding them to my spice grinder, and turning them into a flavorful homemade seasoning blend.

Just look at the difference between the two photos!

On one side, you can see the whole dried ingredients, including sage leaves, rosemary, and red peppers. On the other side, everything comes together into a beautiful, aromatic blend that's ready to use in the kitchen.

One of the things I love about making my own seasonings is having control over exactly what goes into them. I can experiment with different combinations, adjust the amount of heat, and create blends that complement the foods we enjoy.

There are plenty of advantages to grinding your own seasonings!

Whole dried herbs and spices often retain their aroma longer than finely ground ones, especially when they're stored properly. Grinding small batches as needed helps preserve those wonderful flavors.

I can also choose a coarse grind for rustic seasoning blends or process the ingredients longer when I want a finer texture.

Homemade blends are wonderful for seasoning roasted vegetables, chicken, pork, soups, stews, homemade bread, and even popcorn!

And here's a little tip: Make sure your herbs are completely dry before grinding them. Any remaining moisture can cause clumping and shorten their storage life. I also let the grinder cool between batches so the ingredients don't become unnecessarily warm.

For me, this is another important part of self-sufficient living. Growing and drying herbs is wonderful, but learning how to turn them into useful ingredients for everyday cooking makes the whole process even more rewarding.

Plus, opening a jar of freshly ground homemade seasoning smells absolutely amazing!

Do you make your own seasoning blends, or do you prefer buying them already mixed? What's your favorite combination of herbs and spices?

I'd love to hear what you keep in your spice cabinet!
