This is a common rot spot where water is getting underneath the siding and causing extreme damage. Most painting workers will not address the cause and rebuild the flashing and gutter system. I typically see caulk and bondo trying to hold rotten wood together while damage continues through the siding, sheathing and the framing. The best way to paint is to repair wood AND manage the exterior moisture! This will ensure the best results and lead to ultra-long lasting paint projects!
