Pool renovations go smoother when the order is right. First, drain the pool so the shell, plumbing, fittings, and trouble spots can be inspected. Then take care of structural repairs and prep. Tile and coping come before the interior finish because those edges need to be installed, set, and cleaned up before the new surface goes in. Deck work gets planned around that sequence, too. Access, drainage, equipment, and any deck repairs should be coordinated up front, so you’re not tearing up the same deck twice. After the tile, coping, and repairs are complete, the interior finish goes on, then the pool is filled and started up properly.
