A week before one of the biggest events Meek Designs has ever been part of, we received a cease and desist.
For a small business that Tim and I have built with our own hands, our own money, countless late nights, mistakes, rebuilds, deliveries, ideas, and a whole lot of faith in what we were creating… it hurt.
What we initially thought would be a simple matter quickly became something that made us feel like we had to second-guess how we talked about, promoted, and celebrated the business we worked so hard to build.
So we hired an attorney and responded appropriately.
After our attorney became involved, we received no further substantive response regarding the matter, and no further action was taken.
And instead of letting that experience make us quieter, smaller, or afraid to be proud of what we’ve created, we decided to look back at where Meek Designs started.
These pictures are the late nights.
The trial and error.
The first builds.
The projects that didn’t go as planned.
The messy shop.
The moments Tim and I wondered if we were completely crazy for doing this. 😂
And the moments that reminded us why we kept going.
We didn’t buy Meek Designs already built. We built it.
Piece by piece.
Event by event.
Mistake by mistake.
Late night after late night.
And we are incredibly proud of what it has become.
We will always respect other small businesses, protect what we create, and handle disagreements professionally. But we will never allow a difficult experience to make us afraid to celebrate our accomplishments or proudly promote the business we built.
We simply had an idea, started building, kept learning, kept creating, and worked incredibly hard to bring something special to West Texas.
So this post is for the old Meek Designs.
For the two people figuring it out as they went. And every person who believed in us along the way.
No letter and no difficult experience gets to erase how hard Tim and I worked to get here.
We’re still here.
We’re still proud.
And we’re still building. 💗
