Join the Women's Business Development Council (WBDC) for a Monday Morning Reboot, this morning at 10am!

Join us for our next MONDAY MORNING REBOOT!

Unbelievably, it's been 12 weeks since everything came to a halt due to the Coronavirus outbreak. Finally, it seems as though we may be at a bit of a turning point. Some businesses are reopening, others are planning for future phases of the reopening process, some business owners are considering how they might pivot their business concept, while budding entrepreneurs are thinking about launching a new business.

What's on your mind these days?

Are you continuing to look for funding to get you through this crisis?
Wondering how to market your business in the new normal?
Thinking it's time to turn your great idea into a profitable business?
Wondering how you'll keep your employees, your clients, and yourself healthy as you prepare to reopen?

Join us to talk about whatever it is that's keeping you up at night. This week, we'll have a panel of WBDC Business Advisors on hand to answer questions, including Carol Cheswick, Sherry Konwerski, and Jacqui Torcellini. Moraima Gutierrez, SBA Deputy District Director, will be there to answer questions about SBA resources, and HR Expert Deb Gogliettino will participate to help with your HR concerns.

Small business owners are resilient—it’s in their DNA.

They traverse the road less traveled; they take risks in the pursuit of building something bigger than themselves. They are well versed in the art of overcoming—fighting countless battles in order to turn their passion into a profit.

COVID-19 brought closed doors, cancelled events, and their livelihoods disappeared without warning. It rocked them to their core.

They need our support now more than ever. We must stand behind them. We must do our part to save them. #supportsmallbusiness #shoplocal #TogetherMilford

People say that doing business in this environment is challenging! Of course it is! So you've got to get back to basics and reframe how you do business. Its all about people and how you can help others. Its about relationship building! That was the way Chambers grew years back...that's how a downtown was built in the community you grew up in. Perhaps we have lost sight of this.

We are thrilled to have hosted this fantastic webinar featuring Patrick Galvin who shared several of his 7 Rules of Building Relationships that he's written about in his book "The Connector's Way." He taught us not only about the importance of reaching out to others, but also about self care so we can be our best selves to be there for others. These are simple notions but ones that we often forget. So proud to be part of this wonderful virtual event. Can't wait till October...when Patrick will be here in person to present to the chamber once again!

By now, many of us have seen this video illustrating the power of social distancing. However, we are going to challenge you to consider this picture differently. Stay with us for a minute...

As it affects the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce, CT this is exactly what will kill our business community and the ability of Chambers of Commerce everywhere to remain viable.

Chambers of Commerce were started hundreds of years ago, when a group of businesses figured out that when they get involved with the success of other businesses, everyone wins. There is more employment. There are more groceries being purchased; gifts given, food eaten at restaurants and cafes, insurance policies written, bookkeeping needed, contracts written, decorating done, beer brewed & wine fermented, signs painted, doctors and veterinarians needed for our collective health, houses and additions built, lumber purchased, loans written, deposits made, and on and on and on.

When your business steps out of a chamber, the chain, the fabric of our economy is weaker.

We work very hard at the Milford Regional Chamber of Commerce, CT to refer members and hope that you do too. We are constantly trying to think how best to market for our members, advocate for our members (and community), and provide networking opportunities. We're always asking, "How can we support/build our member businesses?"

We're asking your help by staying #TogetherMilford Stay connected. Share events on social media. Register and attend! Pay your dues as soon as you can (we need our flow too!). And let us know when you're struggling for any reason. We may not be able to solve your challenge, but we likley know the person/business/organization that has the answer or solution.

Stay with us! Don't step out. Keep our business community strong! Pass the flame, BE part of the chain that makes us stronger!

Paycheck Protection Program

‼️SECOND ROUND SBA FUNDS AVAILABLE‼️

More than $110 billion in funding remains for the second round of the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP).

Many Connecticut companies and non-profits have taken advantage of this program to date, with approximately 30,000 organizations approved for $2.5 billion in forgivable loans so far during this round.

The PPP provides forgivable loans to small businesses and non-profits with less than 500 employees. 75% of the loan must be used for payroll expenses, with the remaining used on rent, mortgage interest, or utilities. More Information about the PPP can be found on the SBA website.

Connecticut has more than 350 SBA-approved banks and credit unions that can help your organization secure this critical funding. If you do not have an existing banking relationship, you can also apply for this program through approved online lenders (fintechs) like PayPal, QuickBooks, Bluevine, Funding Circle, Kabbage, OnDeck, and Square.

‼️Funding for this program will not last much longer. We encourage you to apply TODAY‼️

Here is the link to the PPP: https://www.sba.gov/funding-programs/loans/coronavirus-relief-options/paycheck-protection-program

An SBA loan that helps businesses keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

Dear Customers.. As we all know, our country is going thru a critical moment. Therefore we should all take action and start thinking not only on ourselves but on every US citizen, specially those who are in most need and most vulnerable. We all have to take action and contribute a grain of sand to help. Right now our healthcare workers are in major need of masks in order to work and take care of those ill and in need. Sadly healthcare workers do not have the proper PPE at the hospital to take care of those with possible/positive COVID 19 virus and they are re-using everyones masks everyday in order to take care of our family members. To show support to the health care system, Incas Milford will be collecting masks to donate them to the healthcare facilities. If you work in construction, painting, or any other business that use these masks please donate! If you feel more comfortable, you can also go directly to your local hospital and donate. One by one we can help this country overcome this challenge. Please donate, Thank you.
Hello. I'm a lifelong Milford resident that like so many others has concerns of this virus' impact on our local economy. I wanted to suggest perhaps holding a (virtual) session with interested businesses and professionals on various ways that local businesses can create and implement alternate ways of continuing commerce during this uncertain time. From delivery of goods and services, doing video shopping sessions with shoppers for your stores, exploring new marketing ideas that could help people connect virtually with you and your company to keep you all moving forward. I'm not a salesperson nor looking for compensation. I'm a concerned citizen with 22 years in marketing (marketing, direct response, media, digital, social media, ecommerce, business consulting) and realize that when these kinds of circumstances occur we're often put back on our heels and could use some guidance. If that is the case and local businesses need help sparking new ways to keep their businesses moving forward I'm certainly happy to offer any help I can. I currently work for a large corporation in Stamford so this is not a search for work or making any money. Just looking to help and give back if I can in some small way. Feel free to DM me if there is any interest or just post publicly here. Want to keep our small town thriving and moving forward together.
Hi everyone! I know many of you probably don't know who I am but my name is Zach and I am the Assistant Studio Manager of Orangetheory Fitness Milford. On March 8, OTF Milford is hosting a special event called the 23rd Hour, in which anyone can come in for a first class free of charge. Typically, a complimentary introductory session is only available to those who live or work in the Milford area (which I am sure many of you do); however, in celebration of the start of Daylight Savings Time, Orangetheory offers a complimentary class to all new comers regardless of where they live or work. Along with the complimentary first class, there are also special discounts offered on OTF's special Heart-rate monitors, called OTbeat, and lots of other retail.
