Saturday Night Shop Happenings

From panels to a finished event cart—here’s how it sets up and breaks down.

The Studio mobile cart is ready for its first event. It’s built to roll into place, come together, and break down for transport when the day is done.

Tomorrow, you can see it in person at BYOD Pups & Pumpkins event, from 1–3 PM. It’s free to the public, with photo ops, a costume contest, and more.

A mobile cart has to work at the event—and break down for the ride home.

The Studio mobile cart is coming together. Everything is lined up, the hinges and casters are mounted, and I’ve tested the assembly. Sanding, painting and staining are next before Pups & Pumpkins at BYODthis Sunday.

I’ll share a follow-up video showing how the cart sets up and breaks down.

Mobile Branded Cart: Part 1

Here’s the first look at the mobile branded cart I’m building for the BYOD Pups & Pumpkins event this weekend.

The materials were picked up from Lowe's Home Improvement, and I’m following plans from Sieb's Workshop LLC. I’m using Rockler Woodworking and Hardware corner clamps for a test fit. All the main cuts are done. Next up are the trim cuts, cleats, casters, and corner hinges so the cart can be set up and broken down easily. Then it’s sanding, paint / stain, and the finishing details.

This build has also convinced me that a track saw needs to be on my shop list.

It’s a first look at the kind of custom branded carts and displays I’m developing through The Studio Commercial. I’ll share more as this one comes together.

I picked up the materials for a mobile brand cart I’m building for The Studio. I’m getting it ready for next weekend’s Pups & Pumpkins event at BYOD.

Today marks the beginning of something I’ve been looking forward to sharing: The Studio at Bench-Top Designs.

The Studio is more than a collection of pieces. It’s a way of thinking about the spaces, gatherings, objects, and stories that make a place feel like your own.

The Studio is built around four collections:

Home — pieces that help make a home feel personal.

Gathering — things made for bringing people together.

Collecting — thoughtful ways to display and care for the things people collect.

Legacy — pieces that hold a story and can be passed along.

Together, these collections shape The Studio Experience—from the first conversation, through the choices and updates along the way, to the final reveal. It means listening closely, keeping the process clear, and treating every project with care.
