Calico Wallpaper

Calico Wallpaper "Who ever said that pleasure wasn't functional?" - Charles Eames Calico Wallpaper is a designer of bespoke wallpaper.

Founded
in Brooklyn, New York in 2013 by creative and life-partners Rachel
and Nick Cope, our process combines artisanal methods from the
decorative arts with innovative digital technologies. The result is an
entirely customized and non-repeating wall mural. We aim to raise wallpaper to the status of art through their original use of gilded metallic colors and a buoyant style which creates depth and
movement. Our company has worked with a global roster of leading designers and architects. We work closely with our clients to realize their design vision to achieve dramatic and exclusive installations.

Bask captures the shifting quality of sunlight as it filters through architectural forms, creating an organic interplay of light and shadow across the wall. Inspired by the rays of sunlight passing through a pergola, the Trompe-l’œil effect brings a sense of structure and movement to the space.

Rooted in the fleeting interplay of light and shadow, Diaphanous draws inspiration from the layered beauty of the outdoors.

For his first collaboration with Calico Wallpaper, translates these transient moments into atmospheric compositions shaped by natural light and motion.

“We’re surrounded by constant stimulation and visual noise. I wanted to create something that does the opposite.” — Joe Doucet

Diaphanous is presented across seven distinct colorways: Effloresce, Effulgence, Elude, Incandescence, Lambent, Redolence, and Transient.

Moving from ethereal cool tones and pale surfaces to deep jewel tones, ambered hues, and grounded moss, each offers a distinct configuration of light and shadow. Together, the palette reflects the movement and natural illumination at the heart of the collection.

Last night, we welcomed friends and members of the design community to our New York showroom to celebrate the launch of Diaphanous, our new collection designed by Joe Doucet.

The evening began with an intimate conversation between Joe and New York Magazine design editor Wendy Goodman, exploring the ideas, process, and inspiration behind the collection, followed by cocktails and interactive culinary installations by Pinch Food Design.

Thank you to Joe, Wendy, and everyone who joined us to celebrate this special
collaboration.

An evening celebrating design, collaboration, and the launch of our newest collection with Joe Doucet.

We gathered at Oberon at the New Museum for an intimate dinner marking the debut of Joe Doucet’s collection for Calico Wallpaper, bringing together friends and members of New York’s design community to toast the collaboration.

Thank you to Joe for bringing his singular perspective to Calico, and to everyone who joined us to celebrate this special launch.

More to come as we continue the celebration at our New York showroom this evening.

A sneak peek at Diaphanous, our new collection designed by for Calico Wallpaper.

Developed as a study in light, movement, and shadow, Diaphanous explores the shifting patterns created by sunlight passing through trees and branches. Soft gradients and translucent forms recreate the effect of branches swaying, shadows drifting, and light changing throughout the day.

The collection will be available online tomorrow.
