We love it when people set pride aside and choose to prepare for the worst-case scenario. Far too many of our installs happen after an injury so this was a nice change in routine this week!

Here you can see three grab bars installed horizontally inside the shower of an elderly couple with mobility challenges. They are positioned at a height that is comfortable for them while remaining within ADA guidelines.

A fourth grab bar is installed vertically to assist when stepping over the shower pan. Tripping when entering or exiting a shower is a common cause of injury and a safety hazard that is often overlooked. We also replaced a standard towel bar in this bathroom with an anchored grab bar. It still functions as a towel bar, yet it is now strong enough to be grasped if needed.

ADAPT isn’t just about accessibility for seniors in their home. Sometimes it is about comfort!

Instead of being a reliable heat source, this customer’s old fireplace was very drafty. In fact, they had to hang a blanket over it just to keep the basement temps tolerable in the winter! The old electric insert was under performing and likely a fire risk due to its age.

After a great deal of searching for the right fit and the right look, we installed this new energy efficient and safe modern insert with features galore! It has different flame settings, color settings, digital thermostat, timer, and even crackling noise to mimic a real fire. The convenient remote is easy to understand and use.

We also sealed off the leaky flue/damper with adequate insulation. No more worries about cold winter days. This senior will now get to enjoy her basement rather than avoid it this winter!

Did you know that even two steps could prevent a senior from returning home after an injury? Due to their new mobility challenges, this client came to us because they were not permitted to be discharged from the rehab facility until safe access to and from their home was established.

The layout of their garage was not ideal for a ramp. In this case, we installed a modified stair lift to give them the necessary means of leaving the house for doctor visits and emergencies. Best of all, this refurbished stair lift was nearly half the cost of a new unit!
