On fall mornings like these, I like to think of our yards as little hotels for pollinators with our native gardens acting as a free continental breakfast.
Most of the pollinators stay nearby but congregate for the free feed. Sometimes there are a lot of patrons at one time, other times there are just a few. Some make a quick stop by, while others load up as much as they can (and go back for seconds!).
Monarchs are like football fans, coming from various locations but all heading to the same place.
Bees are like the big families stopping on their way to or from their final destination.
The more aggressive pollinators are like that weird guy hovering over the waffle machine.
The moths are mostly there just for the coffee because they "had a long night."
All I know is that wherever they come from or wherever they are going, I am honored to be part of their journey and happy to provide the fuel they need.
