In October, you may see a variety of pests intruding on your living space in Nebraska and Iowa. If you’re having an issue, call us today! (402) 991-4005

Boxelder Bugs:
These small, red and black bugs are often seen in large numbers around windows and porches in the fall. To get rid of them, you can try spraying them with dish soap, vacuuming them up, or sealing up doors and windows.

Clover Mites:
These tiny pests are a common nuisance in Nebraska, especially in the spring and fall. They can invade structures in large numbers and may appear on window sills or inside sliding glass doors.

Japanese Beetles:
These metallic green and copper-colored bugs are an invasive species in Nebraska that feed on a variety of plants, including roses, grapes, and linden trees.

Minute Pirate Bugs (“Noseeums”):
These tiny, oval-shaped bugs are mostly black in color, with a gold patch across the back and white tip of the wings. They can deliver a mighty painful bite despite their small size.

Whiteflies:
These tiny, white flying bugs are related to aphids and mealybugs. They are known for infesting and damaging plants.

The extra rain we’ve been experiencing this year is fantastic for our lawns, but the amount of water carries with it some complications. Not only does it damage homes and spread dangerous bacteria, but it also causes a sudden influx in the insect population. Some of the most common insects and pests that quickly appear after storms and floods are ants, mosquitoes, crickets, cockroaches, and rodents (rats and mice).

Are you experiencing a sudden influx of pests? Call us today at (402) 991-4005. Don’t let a pest be a permanent guest!

MEET YOUR BUGZ TECH!

NATE is our veteran technician! He's actually been with us so long, we'd have to do a payroll search to find his start date! (jk...hehe)

Nate primarily focuses on termite treatments (if you recognize him from his photo, you've probably had the unfortunate experience of needing one!), but also backs us up with termite inspections and pest treatments during the busy season! Nate can do pretty much everything but prefers termites over pests, and he hates bedbugs! (Don't we all)

Nate comes from a large family - 3 brothers and 2 sisters and has 2 boys and a girl of his own! He loves fried chicken and old stereo equipment. When he was young, he wanted to be a preacher. Amongst his other talents, Nate also does autobody work. (Busy guy!) A native Nebraskan, Nate would love to visit Ireland some day.

From ants and mosquitoes to rodents and cockroaches, the warmer months can see a spike in unwanted critters. Taking proactive steps to prevent pest infestations is crucial for maintaining a healthy and comfortable home environment.

High temperatures and humidity are ideal conditions for pests to thrive. Understanding that these conditions can accelerate the reproduction rates of pests is the first step in combatting infestations.

Summer activities often mean more open doors and windows and increased traffic in and out of your home, providing pests more opportunities to enter.

Check all window/door screens for tears and gaps. Ensure that doors and windows close properly and seal any cracks with weather stripping.

Seal gaps around any utility lines entering your home, as these can be highways for pests to travel. Especially vents and pipes.

Keep your kitchen clean from food scraps, which can attract ants and other insects. Regularly take out the trash and store food in airtight containers.

Keep your yard tidy! Trim bushes and trees away from your home, and remove standing water to discourage mosquitoes.

Use dehumidifiers in damp areas of your home, like basements and attics, to keep humidity levels low and deter pests like spiders and cockroaches.

And of course, hire a professional pest control service for an annual or bi-annual inspection can help catch infestations early!

MEET YOUR BUGZ PEST TECH!

FREEMAN joined us in 2023 and is our newest pest technician! He loves the pest control industry, but mostly the customers! He was also born and raised on the island of Honolulu, Hawaii (you guessed it! He and Hapaki are brothers.).

Freeman is familiar with treating all common (and uncommon) household pests, and is our backup for bed bug inspections and treatments. Customers love Freeman for his patience and considerate attention to their pest needs. (He gets requested ALOT.)

Freeman also has 6 siblings, and three children of his own. He's been quite a few places in his life, but Amsterdam was his favorite. Growing up, he wanted to be a Manga artist and would still love to visit Japan. He spends his time making the office laugh and remodeling vintage Hot Wheel cars.

MEET YOUR BUGZ PEST TECH!

HAPAKI was born and raised on the BEAUTIFUL island of Honolulu, Hawaii and moved state-side for more opportunities! (That had to be painful!) He wanted to be an investigator growing up but, to our advantage, has been in the pest control field for the last 7-8 years. Hapaki is one of our lead pest technicians.

He is well-versed in all common (and uncommon) household pests, with bed bugs being his specialty. SUPER ICK! However, he doesn't care much for clover mites because they resist his efforts to kill them! (Clover mites are difficult to eradicate to say the least.)

Hapaki has 6 siblings, and an adorable son and daughter. Family means everything to him. He'd love to travel to Tokyo, Japan in the future and visit the birthplace of his favorite entertainment genre, anime!

Giant venomous spiders with 4-inch-long legs continue to make their invasion into the U.S., researchers say.

Studies show Joro spiders, which can parachute through the air, are expected to arrive this summer.

"It is a matter of when, not if" the spiders are set to arrive, experts say, and it could happen any day now.
