This is why you don't use cheap filters...i.e. The 4 for a dollar supermarket pack.

This 20 year-old heat exchanger was emitting only 35 PPM CO in the home (not enough to set off most CO alarms.) The entire bottom half of the secondary exchanger was rotted out and plugged and the furnace still operating as if normal. No faults. Have you had your furnace checked lately??
