Good Morning, I finally feel like my brain is functioning again, so I will try to write a post. Jen and I are doing as well as can be expected. The rest of this post will be about Marsha because I’m the one posting. We are not moving back to Paradise. The loss of our town, people, and our home is too devastating for me at this age. After a lot prayer and talking Mark and I have decided to leave California and move to Reno Nevada. We had been in our home for 42 years and lived in Paradise for 44 years. We feel a definite pull to a different state. Our new home will be on the east side of the Sierra Nevada’s. So were leaving but not too far.
Yesterday I went to our local quilt store (HoneyRun Quilters) and did some serious shopping. I came back to the fifth wheel with a new Juki sewing machine. I’ve finally started sewing again and actually took a class last week and signed up for a class in Feb. Yesterday was especially wonderful because I ran into some friends I hadn’t seen for a long time. I love and miss soooo many friends and customers from Morning Star Quilts. It brings so much joy to my soul to see people at HRQ enjoying fabric and supporting their local quilt store. Rhonda and her staff are doing a wonderful job providing for many quilters. Thank you to them! I also ran into one of our former employees who I’ve missed so much, what a joy to see her working at HRQ. God bless you all, and I hope to see more of you out and about. Marsha
Today marks one week. Although I think we are both in shock still we are together and doing okay. We have been blessed with a beautiful home to stay in. We have had a wonderful amount of support from our family and friends. We will get through this storm. We continue to cling to God and prayer. We are vigilantly praying for all who have lost and all the men and women working on this fire. God be with you all! Jen & Marsha
We have had several calls, texts, and emails and we appreciate everyone checking on us. My mom and I have both lost our homes. We hooked up our fifth wheels and left town with the clothes on our back with flames at the houses across the street. This is true for so much of Paradise. We are heartbroken, devastated but so thankful we made it out with fur babies. I have seen pictures of the corner of Pearson and Skyway and know that the building that housed our happy place Morning Star Quilts has also burned. Although we closed shop up there two years ago it’s still sad to see. Please continue to pray!!
The ridge quilters guild will be hosting their quilt show October 20 & 21. It will be held at the ELKS lodge. I will have my favorite quilt that I have made displayed. It was pieced by me and quilted by my mom!! Come out and support a great guild. I’m sure no one will be disappointed 😊
I’ve been loving these slightly cooler days. I’ve been quilting up a storm. Here is a darling quilt that was quilted with daisies and yellow thread.
I keep seeing posts from people counting down to Christmas. Scary to think we are already that close. I believe it’s never to early to get a jump start on those special Christmas projects. Here is some pics of a darling baby quilt I just finished quilting!
I haven’t posted in awhile but I have been busy. Today I’m just going to post my handsome sailor. My parents and our family just got back from Chicago where we watched our oldest graduate from Navy Boot Camp. Such an amazing experience and a very proud moment!
We hope everyone had an amazing Fourth of July!! Here a couple shots of a custom quilt we just finished.
Happy summer the heat is finally here. My son helped me put up our pool today so by tomorrow we should be floating and relaxing 😎. Here is a quilt I just finished quilting.
I’ve been quilting up a storm! Here is a couple shots of a quilt I quilted today! A fun happy quilt, quilted with Caribbean pattern and white thread.
This past week was a tough one! We dropped our oldest son off for Navy Boot Camp! We are so proud of him, but this momma is going to miss her boy! Look at how cute this Lilo and Stitch quilt is! I quilted it with big Hawaiian leaves!
Around here we are preparing ourselves to send our oldest son off to the Navy!! I have found comfort in my sewing room and garden as it seems to keep my mind off of him leaving the nest! Here are some shots of a quilt I recently quilted and a couple of my favorite flowers!
Happy Monday!! Here is a couple of shots of quilts that I’ve been quilting!! The weather has been so awesome I have been spending a lot of time outside and not so much time on social media. But I have been busy quilting!! I love looking out my windows as my yard starts coming to life!
The weather has definitely been a treat this last week. I have had a lot of fun getting my yard ready for spring and summer. I absolutely love my backyard when everything is in bloom. Here is some pics of a quilt I quilted last week!
It’s been a busy couple of months around here. So busy that I have forgot to post for awhile. Here is a quick post of a custom quilted table runner. The main picture isn’t very good, but the finished project was outstanding.
I have to say I’m not sure there is anything better then quilting and listening to the rain. Here is one of the quilts I quilted recently! A cute ocean quilt quilted with seashells.
My oldest son turned 21 this last weekend. I took a couple of days off and my husband and I took him to Reno to celebrate! We had a great time with him and I’m still trying to figure out how I’m old enough to have a 21 year old😜 Here’s a few shots of what I’ve been quilting on!
Here’s one my new finished quilts. Quilt pattern is “Fireworks” by Thimbleblossom. The quilting is an edge to edge cable. The pictures show front, back, and a closeup. Of course the cute dog loves all quilts.
We are quilting like crazy, but we have plenty of time for more. Give us a call.

These snowy days have made for some beautiful quilting days! Here is what I have been working on!!
For the last 6 or 7 years my mom, some quilting friends and myself rent a house in Fort Bragg and spend a week sewing!! We just returned from another amazing week. This year we had our very own “chef”. We didn’t have to cook or clean. My dad took very good care of us and made us some fabulous meals. Here’s a few shots of a couple quilt I quilted before we left!
A fun cowgirl quilt! Quilted with feathers paisleys. Beautiful!!
Here is another quilt that was pieced by one of my friends daughters. She did an excellent job on the piecing and am happy that she let me finish it up for her!! It is quilted with honey drops and lavender thread!
One of my favorite parts of quilting is giving quilts away!! I have been encouraging my best friends daughter to learn how to quilt. She has taken to it very well. When it came time to make her second quilt she told me she wanted to make it for a little girl in our town who had recently been diagnosed with cancer. She worked very hard on her piecing and made sure all of her points were good. I just had the pleasure of quilting it for her. I can’t wait to see the little girls face when she delivers it!
It’s never to early to get ready for Christmas. I quilted this quilt with Christmas balls and a light green thread!! Beautiful finished product!!
Good Morning quilters! I’m so excited for my day. First time attending Road to California. We are taking a class from Jenny Pedigo (Sew Kind of Wonderful). It’s all about quilting feathers, which are my favorite. Hopefully bringing home many new quilting ideas.
Give Jen or I a call we would love to quilt for you. We have thousands of patterns and endless amount of ideas floating around in our heads. Have a great day and God Bless!
Yesterday I finished this beauty!! Beautiful

Let me start by wishing all of you a Happy New Year! My mom and I hope you all had a wonderful holiday!! My youngest son brought home the horrible cold and shared it with our household and my parents. So it made for a quiet Christmas with lots of naps. I finally think we are all back to feeling 100%. I’m so excited to be in my studio today quilting! The best part is that I can finally watch it rain! We can’t wait to help you with your quilting needs. Please give us a call to have your next quilt quilted. We are offering custom and edge to edge! Here is just a quick peak at what’s on the machine today!!
Today we are sharing a couple of quilts we just finished. One was quilted with double clamshell and the other with wavy lines.
