How to set vinyl fence posts that last a lifetime…

There are two methods two set vinyl posts in the ground.

The dry set concrete method and the wet set concrete method.

Dry set means you set the post, then empty a bag of concrete in the hole, then hose the hole down with water.

Wet set means you take the time to carefuly mix the concrete with water and once mixed properly you pour in the post hole.

For one method you have can only hope the concrete gets uniformly wet

And the other you are 100% sure the concrete gets evenly mixed to ensure your concrete will cure properly.

The correct one?

The wet set method.

Most contractors dont do it because its a slower build.

But the ones that do, want your fence to last.

Our vinyl fences stand winds up to 80 mph. Anything higher is considered category 2 hurricaines.

But if want even a stronger fence.

You can add a metal post reinforcement.

Its a metal z shaped reinforcement that fits tightly inside the hollow vinyl post.

It adds extra strength.

Do you need it? Possibly not, since we add concrete inside the post as well so its not completely hollow.

But if you have large dogs that push on fence or are on a slope that gets hit with extreme winds. It might be a good option.
