🏠 Buying an older property in Pittsburgh? Don’t overlook the water shutoff valves!
Investors, new homeowners and property managers—this small detail could help prevent thousands of dollars in water damage.
Shutoff valves don’t last forever. Corrosion, mineral buildup and worn seals can cause leaks or prevent them from stopping the water when you need them most.
💧 If a property has been sitting vacant with the water off, have a qualified plumber inspect the valves and plumbing before restoring service. Replace deteriorated or faulty valves before they become an emergency.
Check the main shutoff AND the valves serving sinks, toilets and appliances. Never force a stuck valve.
Do you know where your property’s main water shutoff is—and whether it works? 👇
