Spring is here. It's time to think gardening. Our community garden has openings for new gardeners. Plots are 20 x 20 fir $25 for the 2020 garden season. We have equipment, water, 3 Master Gardeners to help with questions.

Don't want to garden, think VOLUNTEER. The garden is always looking for volunteers. We have lots of room for social distancing.

Remember we also grow thousands of pounds of fresh produce for the Kendall County Community Food Pantry.

Come grow with us.

My wonderful kids that will be going back to school soon. The garden will miss having Sydney and Lucas as helpers. But today community gardeners Harry, Gordon, HB, & Candy were out to help pick, wash, trim, & package produce.

The tomato plants are looking good, blooming & setting on tomatoes. This week we sent red cabbages. They are always so pretty.

So, YTD is 455 pounds.

Weeds & more weeds. The garden is covered on weeds. Today we had Sydney, lucas, Gurney, & me. We made good progress on weed removal.

We can always use help. Anyone (my fb friends) on fb that has a scout troup or church youth group that would like to help the garden & the food pantry at the same time. Please give the garden a call. Leave a message & we will call you back.

Yesterday I had help in the Community garden. We planted onions & celery in the raised beds. Looks like my helpers were worked too hard. They fell asleep on the way home.

Today was a successful day for planting in the garden. With the help of Bev, HB, Paula, Thea, & Connie, they planted 144 tomatoes, 4 flats of late cabbage, 1 flat of kale (still 1 more flat to plant somewhere), 4 flats of peppers (still have 3 or 4 flats yet to plant). But they put a BIG dent in getting the plants in the ground. Thank all of you for your help.

WOW!!!!!! So far for the month of May, Plano has received 10.29 inches of rain.

Mother Nature you need to save some of this rain for later in the growing season. Because I don't believe that this summer is supposed to be wet & cooler than normal for the midwest.

Last Monday HB & Connie planted 180 red & early cabbage. On Thursday Connie planted 72 cauliflower & 72 broccoli plants all for the Kendall County Community Food Pantry.

The garden would like to thank the 4 volunteers from Midstate Bank of Yorkville for coming out a week ago & planting corn for the pantry & helped in marking rows for the cabbage that HB & Connie planted.

AND last but not least, after 4 years of managing the garden HB & Connie finally found a new tool to help plant faster. Picture 3. ( A drill with an auger attachment. ) It's about time HB came up with that idea.
