Do you know when you last changed your furnace filter?
Most people don't. And in Utah it matters more than you'd think. Between the first cold snap and inversion season, your furnace is about to run harder than it has all year, and a clogged filter makes it heat worse and cost more.
Take 5 minutes today:
Find your furnace filter (usually in a slot right next to the furnace, or behind a return vent)
Check it. If it's gray or you can't see light through it, it's time
Write the date on the new one so you're not guessing next time
Make sure no vents are blocked by furniture or rugs
Test your carbon monoxide detector
One more thing: if your furnace has white PVC pipes going out the side of the house, keep them clear. Once the snow starts piling up, a blocked pipe is a common reason a furnace shuts off in the middle of the night.
Not sure what filter size you need, or how old your furnace is? Send us a photo of the label on your furnace and we'll tell you.
