After last week's rain and this recent cool down, we pulled out the old Gore‑Tex jacket from our military BDU days.

Funny how a piece of gear can bring back memories of early mornings, long rucks, the smell of diesel exhaust...and doing the hard things anyway. Still getting after it...different mission, same mindset.

If you're not following us...like, share, follow...all that silliness, it helps grow the business. Thank you.

We thought this first frost would wipe everything out, but the garden surprised us. I don't think it got as cold as they forecasted.

Pulled a full plate of peppers...bells, bananas, jalapeños, and even found tomatoes still hanging on.

We’ll eat the fresh ones this week and freeze the rest for winter recipes.

Pepper plants are chopped down to little stumps and moved indoors to overwinter, and the cool‑weather crops are already growing strong.

Sad to see fresh pepper and tomato season end, but grateful for the harvest.

We’ve had a lot going on lately...family stress, business growth, growing expenses, long days, long weeks. But one thing we’ve learned over the years is that we can’t take care of our families or our customers if we don’t take care of ourselves first.

So we walk...
We work out...
We eat real food...
We stay disciplined...

Twenty‑eight years in the military taught us to keep moving forward, even when life gets heavy. Embrace the suck we called it. We’re building this business for our family, one day at a time.

Take care of yourself today. You can’t pour from an empty cup as they say.

We fired up our shop furnace for its annual inspection and first burn of the season.

The gas burners kicked in and sent those beautiful blue flames down the tubes just like they should, burning off the summer's dust while the windows were still open so that classic “first‑heat smell” could clear out.

This morning was supposed to be our first freeze of the year. Not sure if it dipped quite that low, but it definitely feels cool out there. Even if this cold snap is just a teaser and things warm right back up, it’s a good reminder that winter is coming fast.

Now’s the time to knock out those outdoor projects, repairs, and winter prep before the weather turns for good. If you need help with your to‑do list, inside or out, give us a shout.

Look at that trim…
Look at that stain…
Look at that...
…wait…

Mom said never look directly at the sun.

But when the job is glowing this good, it’s hard not to admire the work.

We came back out to help the customer with these high gable trim pieces they originally wanted to do themselves but after they loved the stain job they said come paint this was well. A few coats of grey cut in tight against that metal roof trim, and this garage is ready to face another decade of Kansas weather.

Sometimes the sun steals the show, but the craftsmanship holds its own.

Recent garage repaint photo dump with update.

We originally stained this garage with a Red Woodsman finish, and the customer planned to paint the trim themselves. After seeing the results, they called us back and asked if we could handle the gable trim since it was way up high and out of reach.

We came to a fair agreement and got it taken care of.
A few clean coats of their selected grey, cut in tight and ready for another long slumber before its next repaint, hopefully a decade from now.

Looking good, holding strong, and always glad to help our customers finish the details that make a project shine.

Up on a roof recently tracking down a chimney leak and found the culprit: clear silicone around the metal chimney pipe where it meets the metal flashing over time had pulled back from the seam, cracked, and let water run straight down into the chimney and dripping onto the appliance....tink, tink, tink.

It was adhered quite well in some areas, but I think with the expansion and contraction of the metal was just too much and either it was an incorrect product or just the brutal Kansas sun, wind, and temps just finally got to it. Either way, this is why we recommend annual roof inspections if you aren't up their yourself often to catch things like this before they become an issue.

We cleaned it up... removing all the silicone, degreased it, and used a metal seam sealer product we trust for flashing and gutter work. It adheres VERY well to metal, lasts most people's lifetime, and handles the expansion and contraction that roofs go through.

First night drive with the work truck since polishing the headlights and swapping out the failed bulb… man, what an improvement.

No more hazy lenses, no more dim candlelight. Just clear, bright visibility without blinding oncoming traffic.

Rolling into shorter days and deer rut season, it feels good to actually see again.

Safe for me, safe for everyone I’m sharing the road with.

Working alone… sometimes you hear things and occasionally I talk to myself. 🤣

I was up on this roof diagnosing a chimney leak and thought I heard someone say “Whodat?”

Turns out it was just this plastic owl glued to the top of the chimney staring through my soul.

If you can't have fun why do it. 🤣

Any who, What’s the deal with these owls? I've seen them on other roofs and fence posts in the area. Bird deterrent? Squirrel security guard? Neighborhood watch? What's your thoughts?

Maiden voyage after dark with the new LED lightbar. Took the golf cart for a few short drives to test everything out.

Lightbar is definitely bright, might bump it up a touch, but I aimed it low on purpose so we’re not blinding oncoming pedestrians, cars, or anyone sharing the path.
