Fresh Bimini Bermuda in at a coastal home this week.

Bimini is one of the densest, finest-textured Bermudas out there, which is why it fills in so thick once it takes hold. It loves full sun, and a wide-open yard like this gives it plenty of it.

And right after install, the sprinklers do the important work — new sod does best with steady watering for the first few weeks while the roots take hold.

Following up on Steve the Gator's Bahia video from yesterday — here's that grass going in.

Bahia is one of the toughest grasses for a Florida yard. Deep roots, handles full sun and dry spells well, and once it's established it doesn't ask for much water or fertilizer compared to other sod types — a good fit for big, sunny yards like this one.

This install was cut out of pasture and freshly laid. New sod does best with steady watering for the first few weeks while the roots take hold, then it settles in and mostly takes care of itself.
