ginnie + galen — a framed set i made three years ago on chunky vintage wooden frames.
i haven’t made anything like this since (and haven’t honestly sat at my loom in so so long). not because i don’t love creating or because i don’t still find joy in weaving, but things are just so so different now. larger, more intricate pieces take more material and time and naturally cost more. and they just don’t sell like they did three years ago.
i think we all know by now *why* handmade art, made by real artists, costs more than purchasing from a big box. quality materials. experience. small-batch making. carefully curated collections. art is slow because people are not machines.
things are really sh*tty right now. and as a human, it makes me feel sh*tty to promote high end pieces (like ginnie + galen) knowing that there are so many barely surviving — between groceries, gas, healthcare, basic necessities. so please don’t ever feel pressured or obligated to shop, but know that as a small business owner and artist, also trying to stay afloat, your support doesn’t go unnoticed — ever. 🤎
