A lot of what makes an install look clean happens in the attic.

One drop into the roof space can feed several camera positions without opening up a wall anywhere. The cable travels above the ceiling, comes out exactly where it needs to, and the only thing visible at the end is the camera.

It's hot, tight, awkward work. That's the trade for not having conduit running down the side of your house.

If you run a storefront, three positions carry most of the weight.

The entrance, framed at face height rather than aimed down from the ceiling. The register. And the back door, which is the one people skip and the one that most often holds the answer.

A wide shot of the sales floor looks impressive on a monitor and tells you very little when you need a name.

We do commercial installs across Utah. Honest, flat-rate pricing, no monthly fees.

The eave is usually the first place we look on a house.

A camera tucked under it stays out of direct weather, sits out of reach, and the cable has a short path into the building — which means less of it ends up visible from the street.

It isn't always the right spot. Rooflines vary, and some angles only work from a corner. But when the eave works, it's the cleanest option on the house, and clean installs tend to be the ones still working in five years.

Most people picture a camera install as mounting cameras.

Most of it is cable.

Every position needs its own ethernet line back to the recorder. Pulling that line through an attic, down a wall, or along a soffit is the job. Terminating both ends and testing them is the job. The camera itself goes up in about ten minutes.

It's also why two quotes for "six cameras" can land a long way apart. The cameras are the same. The building isn't.

Two things stack up in December: more parcels arriving than any other month, and more houses sitting empty for a week at a time.

If you're travelling, the useful steps are simple. Know you can reach the cameras from wherever you're going. Make sure somebody local can get in if they need to. And check the system works after dark before you leave, not from an airport.

If you want it sorted before the holidays, now's the time to call.

Churches, schools and community buildings have an unusual requirement: they're supposed to be open.

You can't lock down a building that exists to welcome people, which makes cameras a bigger part of the answer than locks are. Entrances, hallways, parking, and the rooms where equipment lives — enough to have an answer if something happens, without the place feeling like an airport.

We've done a number of these across Utah. Happy to walk yours.

Construction sites are a specific problem.

There's expensive equipment sitting in the open, the layout changes week to week, and often there's no permanent power or internet to build on.

It's all solvable — temporary mounting, cellular or bridged connections, cameras that move as the site develops. Just don't assume a system designed for a finished building transfers across.

If you're running a site and losing tools, call us.

Halloween is the one night a year when a lot of strangers walk up to your door by design.

It's mostly a good night. But it's also worth knowing your front camera works properly before it rather than after — dark, costumes, masks and constant movement is about the hardest test a doorway camera gets all year.

Go look at yours this week. If you can't make out a face at ten feet in the dark, that's worth fixing.

Why we hardwire everything.

Wireless cameras are genuinely convenient and we understand the appeal. But they run on batteries that die, or Wi-Fi that drops, and most of them only record when they detect motion — which means the thing you actually needed happened in the two seconds before recording started.

Hardwired means constant power, constant connection, continuous recording. Nothing to charge and no gaps.

More work to install. That's the trade.

What actually drives the price of a camera system, roughly in order:

Cable runs. Not the cameras — the labor of getting a line from every position back to the recorder, and whether the building lets us hide it. That's most of the job and most of the cost.

Retention. Thirty days of 4K across twelve cameras needs a lot more drive than a week across four.

And how many positions genuinely need identification-grade detail versus general coverage. Not every angle does, and pretending otherwise just runs the number up.
