Made a trip to the Farmer's Market for ingredients for tomorrow nights dinner with company. It's gonna be stuffed poblanos over Molé with a side of corn and dragon toes. Appetizer will be local Petite Oysters paired with chilled Humboldt Distillery Vodka.

We know, another tomato salad. This time it's not only tomatoes and soft mozzarella but a little onion and some fresh herbs (we are plum outta Basil). A little Kona Sea Salt and olive oil with chile oil optional. Super refreshing and light. Our tomatoes still aren't done!

Who doesn't love a big baker with interesting stuff on top? One of our favorites is inspired by a favorite dish at a Puerto Vallarta restaurant, Sonorita, which is al Pastor on top of a baker. Then on top of that from our need to use stuff from the greenhouse is this sort of tomato/pepper jam salsa thing. It added a sweetness and a touch of kick to liven up the whole thing.

We still have tomatoes coming out of our greenhouse. Best way to keep up is plates like this at least once a week for dinner. We also have tomato sauce in the freezer and we've had a couple of tomato pies. The Sweet Millions have produced gallons and gallons! That's a Pineapple Heirloom on the right and they come off at a steady pace, too. There is at least another month or more before we'll have to go to store bought again.

That time of year we have an abundance of tomatoes from just a few plants in our greenhouse. Tomato Soup was a great way to use up a few.

Well, the 2 Cooks ate pretty well this week!

We've got Lemon tarts with a Lemongrass Italian Meringue, Pad Thai, Asian Chicken Wings, Aloco which is an African dish with Cod, Sweet and Sour Meatballs, Salmon with Mashers and Tomatoes with cottage cheese and pesto.

Lots of really good dishes made right here in our kitchen. Some things Matthew made, some things Kelly made and some things had contributions from both of us.

Dinner tonight is this plate of home grown tomatoes, some Farmer's Market Basil, some soft mozz and a dabble of a pesto AND a pesto vinaigrette.

21 cups of really rich chicken broth heading to the freezer. Three chicken carcasses from roasted chickens cooked for at least 24 hours with the Trinity of onion, celery and carrots. Whenever a recipe calls for broth we've got it. You can see how rich and thick it is. Also..we love the Souper Cubes. We have both 1 cup and 1/2 cup.

Picture from this day 5 years ago shows one of the best pairings ever--oysters and vodka. Trust us on this. You can either do it yourself or order in a restaurant. Here is a beautiful platter of petites that Kelly shucked and we ate in the sun on our deck. It's a task with great benefits. We are lucky to live by Humboldt Bay where they farm these beauties. More than likely that vodka is some Humboldt Distillery also a local and quality product.

It's totally stuffed pepper season. This one is shrimp and cheeses over a Sweet Paprika sauce and some spicy home made salsa on top. We love poblanos and this year they are thick and meaty.
