Beautiful tile and countertops are easy to fall in love with.

But before any of that, we want the proportions, ceiling heights, openings, transitions and flow of the home to feel right.

Good architecture gives the finishes something to work with.

Building near the lakeshore comes with its own set of considerations.

The property, exposure, materials, site conditions and seasons all become part of the conversation long before construction begins.

Local experience matters.

The Boho Cottage will always be such a fun one to look back on. There’s so much personality throughout this Fennville home, with all of the color, pattern and collected details that make every room feel a little different from the next.

We loved getting to collaborate with Amanda Huizenga Design on this one and seeing all of the pieces come together into a home that feels relaxed, interesting and completely its own.

Definitely one we could keep looking at over and over again.

You can buy a beautiful material and still end up disappointed.

Layout, alignment, transitions, grout lines, edges and installation matter just as much as the selection itself.

The material is only half the decision.

Focus on custom cabinetry, built-ins, trim and doors.

If you’re deciding where craftsmanship will make a noticeable difference, millwork is high on our list.

It’s everywhere you look and touch, and when it’s done well, it gives the entire home a level of finish that’s hard to replicate later.

West Michigan gets plenty of attention in the summer, but some of our favorite days here happen after the boats are put away.

A custom home should be just as good on a quiet October weekend as it is in July.

When a client loves something that’s trending, we don’t automatically steer them away from it.

We simply ask: would you still want it in your home five years from now?

There’s something about a new home that already feels like it belongs.

We’ve been drawn to natural materials, timeless details and finishes that don’t feel overly new or trendy. Especially around Saugatuck and the lakeshore, those choices can make a new build feel like it’s been part of the setting for years.

That’s a look we’ll always appreciate.

We’re seeing less of the all-white-everything look and a lot more warmth coming back into homes.

Natural wood, warmer neutrals, stone, richer exterior colors and finishes with a little more character are making new homes feel less “new” in the best way.

It’s definitely a shift we like seeing!
