Most people shopping for LVP look at color, thickness and wear layer — but the locking system matters too.

Two locking systems we prefer are V2G and Unilin angle-angle systems. They provide a stable connection, and most experienced flooring installers are very familiar with them.

At Browning Supply, those are the locking systems we choose to stock.

When you’re comparing LVP, check the end of the box for the locking-system information. It may not be the first thing you think to look for, but it’s worth knowing what you’re buying.

Does thicker flooring automatically mean better flooring?

No.

Thickness affects how a floor feels underfoot, how much sound it absorbs, and can help with very minor subfloor imperfections—but it doesn’t necessarily determine durability.

When comparing luxury vinyl plank flooring, also consider:
• Wear layer
• Locking system
• Core quality
• Installation

The best floor isn’t always the thickest one. It’s the one that’s built well and fits your project.

Most LVP flooring looks the same sitting on a display rack… but it isn’t.

One of the biggest differences is the wear layer.

The wear layer is the protective coating on top of the plank that helps resist scratches, scuffs, pets, kids, and everyday traffic.

Common wear layers include:
• 12 Mil
• 20 Mil
• 24 Mil
• 28 Mil

A thicker wear layer doesn’t necessarily mean a thicker floor—it simply means more protection on the surface.

Before you buy flooring, make sure you’re comparing:
