The fields that once held thousands of ducks and geese are now "a sea of dirt."

Across Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas, hunters who a decade ago were recording banner years are asking the same question: Where have all the ducks gone?

If you're a member of Delta Waterfowl, the Spring 2026 issue of Delta Waterfowl magazine is hitting mailboxes now.

This issue dives into the Hunt Fish Rule and how the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service reviews hunting access on federal refuges each year, plus Delta’s efforts to expand opportunities for waterfowl hunters.

We also take a closer look at pintails and their dramatic breeding shift from the prairies to Alaska and northern Canada. Dr. Todd Arnold shares insights from years of research into what’s driving the change.
