Three things to know if you want an energy efficient home.

⚡️Insulation type matters! Choose wisely but understand how this choice will affect other decisions in the build.
⚡️⚡️ HVAC systems must be designed correctly! Balancing the airflow in the rooms is only a small portion of a well designed system. Heat loads, air make-up systems, thermostat and return air locations are just the beginning!
⚡️⚡️⚡️Windows account for between 10%-20% of the home’s exterior surface. This is NOT where you want to skimp. Make sure you choose windows and doors that will increase your efficiency!

You can’t incentivize a builder to make more money and wonder why you’re over budget. The two aren’t independent of one another. A cost plus structure has zero incentives to keep you in budget and on time. Thats why we have never offered it!
