Our Story
Whites Woodworking began in 1982 as a small cottage industry located in the country in rural southern Iowa. We started our business attending craft shows marketing small hand made wooden crafts. We started picture framing in 1985. During that time, we would saw down oak trees from our timber and take them to the local sawmill. The lumber was then dried in our homemade wood kiln. It wasn't long before the demand for lumber out grew our capability to provide through our own timber. As our business grew so did our reputation for quality, integrity, and customer service. Thanks to our growing reputation we had the opportunity to open an art gallery on the square in our small town. For 20 years our gallery was able to meet the picture framing, art and collectible needs of our growing customer base from all over the country. In 2014 we moved our business back to our roots. Currently, we still operate a full service custom picture frame and woodworking shop from our country location.
Besides our wholesale picture framing business we provide full service custom picture framing and custom woodworking all from our location in our country shop. We often use repurposed wood in our projects, as well as end stock picture frame moulding and other repurposed materials. The creativity that we find in collaborating with our customers on anything from custom framing to custom furniture, made from old repurposed items, has brought a lot of fun and joy into our shop. We can honestly say we love our job, we love your smiles, and we absolutely love our customers!
Whites' Woodworking's mission is to utilize our many years of experience to create and offer high quality products representing our heart for history, family and faith.
