Gold Coast Travel Escape (GHANA)

Gold Coast Travel Escape (GHANA) Ghana was the first place in sub-Saharan Africa where Europeans arrived to trade - first in gold, later in slaves. It was also the first black African nation in the region to achieve independence from a colonial power, in this instance Britain

Having Coffee with Peshmerga Soldiers in Iraqi Kurdistan Who Died Fighting ISIS.

This is such an emotional place. The Peshmerga Cafe, or Martyrs Cafe, in Iraqi Kurdistan, really makes you reflect on the difficulties endured by the people of this region, whether you're a pacifist or supporter of the Kurdish Peshmerga.

Big shout-out to my friend Baderkhan for his help with the translations (https://www.instagram.com/baderkhanamerbadran) and Bister for hosting us in the friendly city of Dohuk!

The other week, I ACCIDENTALLY booked myself a single seat (not a bed!) on Amtrak's California Zephyr, a journey crossing the ENTIRE United States of America over 4 days. It wasn't easy, but I'm always up for a good survival challenge 🤪

See how I survived this crazy journey! Would you do it too?

I have made it to the West African nation of Liberia (country 178) and I am shocked to see how much it reminds me of home!!! Everything from the country flag, to the government system, sports culture, school curriculum and even the yellow school buses are shockingly similar to the United States, and you will find out why in this video!

Join me today on a tour around Monrovia, the lovely capital of Liberia!

Just out of curiosity - how many of you guys out there knew that Liberia was this Americanized? Would love to hear your thoughts.

No matter where you go on the African continent, you can see women carrying heavy loads of goods on the top of their heads and it's fascinating! Many of them can carry up to 70% of their body weight, which is nearly impossible to do with just your two hands.

I'm here in Guinea-Bissau, the tiny Portuguese-speaking West African nation, and I wanted to dedicate this video entirely to these strong women who have an impressive sense of balance.

I tried to walk 5 steps with 30 kilos of rice on my head, and it's a LOT harder than I thought...

HELLO FROM LAGOS, NIGERIA -- COUNTRY #175!! 🇳🇬 I truly had a lot of fun making this video inside Africa's craziest and most populated city. Did you know that over 20 million people are living in Lagos?! It is hands down one of the most hectic, chaotic and vibrant places I've ever been with a LOT of stories to tell. I'm overwhelmed.

My local buddy Tayo has been taking me all around his bustling city and we've had an absolute blast together. Surprisingly, this was one of the hardest videos I've ever made because it's REALLY challenging to shoot content on these streets. People don't like being on the camera here and they make a huge commotion in the streets and ask for money (etc) whenever they see it from a distance.

In any regard, I hope you enjoy this episode of my $10 series and get a glimpse into local Nigerian culture. More to come tomorrow!

HELLO FROM COUNTRY #172 - ERITREA!

I'm thrilled to be back in Africa where I will be spending the remaining 3 months of the year! Many of you probably haven’t heard of Eritrea before and that’s because it’s a relatively new country and it’s notoriously difficult to enter (top 5 in the world). After 48 hours of roaming around the capital of Asmara and the ancient port city of Massawa, I’ve really enjoyed my time here.

I’m getting flashbacks to when I was in Ethiopia, yet also touches of Yemen Somaliland and Italy. Yes - ITALY! Eritrea is a former Italian colony and their influence is remarkably well-preserved in the form of giant cathedrals, pizza parlors, gelato shops, old Italian cars, appertivos and many people can still speak fluent Italiano.

The capital of Asmara is VERY safe, with kind hearted people and surprisingly the weather is cold here (2,400 meters high). Unfortunately due to WiFi issues, I haven't been able to upload anything until now, but there’s no hurry, because life is wonderful here! More to come soon 🇪🇷

Hi Guys! I have a really exciting video to share with you today. Meet the Goy's (AKA the Wonderlusters) -- I bumped into them this morning at a temple in Sri Lanka, and after speaking with them for a bit, I decided to make this spontaneous video of their inspiring journey.

Long story short, this family of 4 sold everything back home (Quebec, Canada) to go on a 15 MONTH trip to 50 COUNTRIES for LESS THAN $70,000 USD TOTAL.

I caught them half way on their journey, and I was very impressed to hear about their adventures. I know how tedious it is to plan long trips (as a solo traveler), and I could not imagine doing it for 4 people... not to mention, the patience they have to constantly watch over a 9 and 7 year old!

The Goy's use all sorts of travel hacks to minimize their expenses (i.e. 16 credit cards to collect points) and they homeschool their youngsters on the road. If you ask me, no kids on this planet are getting a better education right now than Mateo and Luka, as they experience first-hand the wonders of the world.

Share this video if you feel inspired (and if you wish your parents would have taken you to 50 countries before you turned 10)!
