Project of the Day #18: Organize Your Tupperware. Food storage containers can be a real pain point for many of us. We seem to lose kids and many of us have a random assortment of pieces that are hard to store together.

Start by taking everything out and sorting by set. Get rid of anything that is broken, stained, or without a match. Put back what you’ve kept creating a functional system, use expandable drawer dividers, bins, or sectioned dividers, and sort by category or store containers stacked with the kids on so you never lose a lid again!

Check out the blog today for some items that can really help with this project.

Good luck and snap and pic and show us your work!

Project of the Day #17: Organize Your Cookware. Sticking to the theme of preparing for your social meal, today is the day we tackle that jumbled mess of pots and pans. Take them all out and examine them. Donate the ones that you never use or that are damaged, especially scratches on non-stick surfaces. Then put them all back neatly - stacked or using racks or other products we have featured on the blog today.

Good luck and let us know how this goes for you!

Project of the Day #16: Plan a Nice Meal. Just because you’re riding out this storm at home with just your family, doesn’t mean you can’t make a fuss to celebrate a holiday or just create a special memory. For Neatnik, our celebrations will be for Easter, but your celebration could be for Passover or just to commemorate spring!

Start by picking the date at the type of meal. For Neatnik we’ll be celebrating this Sunday with an afternoon brunch-type meal.

Next, plan your menu. Our advice is that you not go so big that this becomes overwhelming and, therefore, not enjoyable. Select a few dishes that you and your family or quarantine mates will enjoy and find maybe a little bit special. Check to see if you have the ingredients and shop accordingly.

Finally, plan your table. Make this a meal that you get out the cloth napkins, candles, and whatever else you may have. Get creative - many of us will not have access to flowers for a centerpiece and will need to use items from around the house. Get the kids involved in making some crafts to decorate the table!

We’ll have a video out later with more ideas on planning your meal and your table, so stay tuned for that!

Let us know what you’re planning!

Project of the Day #15: Give Yourself a Gold Star, Pat on the Back, and Kudos. Your project today, should you choose to accept it, is to give yourself some credit. You’ve made it through another week! This is an accomplishment and no small thing. What we’re all doing is so mentally taxing and to be productive in top of it is a feat. Take a moment to appreciate any of the projects you have completed, enjoy your accomplishments, and give yourself a break. Do something you enjoy today - read a book, watch a movie, take a bath. We’ll be back at our projects next week, but for now, take it easy on yourself and appreciate all that you make it through another week. ❤️🙏👏👍💪😀

Project of the Day #14: Wash and Store Winter Items. It’s officially warm enough that we can make a break from those hats, gloves, and winter coats. Take some time today to launder those items and put them away. Some people put them in bins, some people just move them to the less accessible places in the closet or mud room. Whatever you do, this should be an easy one!

Project of the Day #13: Organize Your Recipes. Many of us have recipes from all sorts of places - the Internet, scraps of paper, magazine and newspaper clippings, print outs, and little index cards in boxes. For those of us at Neatnik, we have binders full of recipes we’ve never made, ones we don’t like, and the ones we do like can we hard to find. So today is the day we sort all of that out and put our recipes together in a place where they’re useful to us. Start by gathering all of your recipes and sorting them by type. Then go through and find the ones you will never make and recycle those. We have a great explanation of how to store the ones you’re keeping over on the blog!

P.S. We’re doing a great giveaway today of an item that will help you in this project so stay tuned!

Project of the Day #12: Declutter Bedside Table and Top of Dresser. If you’re like us and pretty much every client we’ve ever met, your night stand and dresser are overflowing with stuff. Books, papers, lotions, potions, water glasses, and whatever else you’ve set there. Today’s the day to clean it off, put some of the things away, and create a clear, easy to keep clean surface. This will help promote a calm, stress-free feeling in your bedroom that we all need right about now.

Project of the Day #11: Clean and Organize Your Refrigerator. We’re stepping it up a little bit this week! This one might require a little more of your time, but your fridge probably needs it after two weeks of constant use.

Start by taking everything out and making sure nothing is moldy or expired. Wipe everything down. If there are pieces like drawers that can be removed and washed with warm water and dish soap, do that.

We’ve got a piece on the blog of how to organize everything when you put it back and some products that might help.

Project of the Day #7: Recycle Magazines and Newspapers. We hate to tell you this, but having tons of magazines and newspapers sitting around is the first mark of a hoarder 😬😱😂 This is a problem that is very easily solved. If you think about it, there really is no need to hang on to these items you’ve read. Take some time today to go through your house and recycle all the old newspapers, magazines, and catalogs that you’ve read or don’t intend to read. If you *really* plan to read some of them, make a stack and start reading!

More on the blog for some approaches to this task! As always, link in the bio!

Thanks so much to everyone who is following along with the Project of the Day series. We enjoy putting it together and we’re glad people are finding it useful. Please share with your friends and networks!

Project of the Day #6: Spring Clean Your Inbox. If you're anything like us, this is a long overdue task. Our email inbox(es) have gotten totally out of control. With these recent weeks of so many emails - we have all received at least one email on Covid-19 from every company we have ever done business with.

For us, the more cluttered the inbox gets, the less we want to look at it, and the less likely we are to attend to the emails that actually need attention. It's a vicious cycle that can be stopped by less than an hour's worth of culling, filing, and deleting.

Project of the Day #6: Organize Your Medicine Cabinet. After a weekend off, you’re ready to tackle this. Everyone’s medicine cabinet needs attention every so often and now is the perfect time.

Start by taking everything out. Clean the shelves, sides, and door. Then use a disinfectant and allow the disinfectant to dry. Take a look at each item you had in the cabinet. Get rid of gross and expired items. Wipe down what you want to keep. Then put it all back in a way that makes sense for how you use it - frequently used items front and center, less used items higher up, etc. And then voila! Stand back and admire your results!

Send us a picture of your organized medicine cabinet!

And this weekend...just relax. Take some time to absorb our new reality and rest. We can start again with our projects next week. Take care of yourself!
