Wangari Nyanjui, Nairobi-based designer and founder of apparel/decor company Peperuka, popped by our new office during her stop in Washington, DC — and, of course, Little’s Chris Maier was excited to grab a snapshot with her. We recently teamed up with Wangari as part of our work with Mastercard Foundation — and really look forward to more collaborations to come. #littlegoesalongway #madebylittle #peperuka

Around the office, it's been quite a year: weddings and babies, arrivals and departures, brainstorming and strategizing, storytelling and filmmaking, website building and event planning and a whole bunch more. Most importantly, we've had the chance to spend time with some incredible people — clients, colleagues, co-conspirators, and friends. As you celebrate the holidays and the coming new year, keep your eye on the little things and never lose sight of the good people that make what we do worth doing. #madebylittle #thelittlethings #happyholidays

Made By Little recently partnered with Uber to curate Washington, DC's inaugural issue of Vehicle, a new magazine that dives into the lives and communities that define Uber drivers when they're not behind the wheel. The print issues are hot off the press — and we couldn't be more excited. #MadeByLittle #Uber #WashingtonDC #CityLiving

Last fall, Made By Little began partnering with Uber to curate a magazine that shines a spotlight on Uber drivers around DC — their stories, their perspectives, their experiences in Washington, DC — as told by some of the best writers and storytellers that DC has to offer. The print version of the magazine, called "Vehicle," is now on the racks at Uber's new Greenlight Hub in DC. And if you can't get your hands on the magazine, check out the issue online, featuring pieces about go-go, hot sauce, soccer, stadiums, sacred spaces, neighborhoods, and more by writers including Holly Bass, Charity Blackwell, Michelle Delgado, Kerry Folan, Roy Kesey, Lily Meyer, and Koye Oyedeji. #MadeByLittle #UrbanStories

Why startup visas are good for America

"Real progress in diversity and inclusion involves more than head counts for race and gender; it takes into account geography, culture and the specialized knowledge and skills of people with diverse backgrounds. Immigrant founders are a cornerstone of building this authentic inclusion." Valuable perspective on CNN over the weekend from Kenya Wiley, founder of Fashion Innovation Alliance, a client and friend of Made By Little. Check out the full op-ed below.

If the Department of Homeland Security ends the International Entrepreneur Rule -- commonly known as the "startup visa" -- American startups will be disadvantaged, Kenya Wiley says.

Work in the System – Reimagining the Civic Commons – Medium

"There are some days you’ll never forget. For Arron Nelson, November 18, 2003 is one of those days. As he was carrying a hand-me-down desk into his home on Corbett Avenue near Detroit’s Coleman A. Young International Airport, he heard a harsh, profanity-laden voice screaming at him to get on the ground. He turned to find a police officer, gun drawn." Made By Little's Chris Maier recently teamed up Reimagining the Civic Commons to explore the impact of hyperlocal workforce development and the stories of several people at the heart of these efforts in Northwest Detroit and South Side Chicago. #MadeByLittle #CivicCommonsUS #UrbanInnovation

The 100 Most Influential Urbanists

Enormous congrats to Carol Coletta, who's been named the 66th most influential urbanist of all time by the editors at Planetizen. Carol is the force behind Reimagining the Civic Commons, an incredible initiative (and Made By Little partner) that focuses on place-based efforts to catalyze lasting change through the creative use of civic assets. Needless to say, we're inspired by Carol's work and pretty pleased to be among her collaborators. (PS: Learn more about Reimagining the Civic Commons here: http://civiccommons.us/) #civiccommonsus

These are the people that have had the most influence on the places and environments that we call home.
