Note to self: STOP TOUCHING THE PUMPKINS. 😂🎃

I redesigned my own porch.
Then redesigned it again.
Then... yep... AGAIN.

At some point you'd think I'd just walk into my house and leave the pumpkins alone.
Apparently not. 😂

But that's the fun of creating. Same porch. Same pumpkins. Three completely different looks.

I brought it. I moved it. I questioned it. I moved it again.

And then I realized I was trying to make this ranch something it wasn’t.

Once I stopped trying to create height and started working with the beautiful horizontal lines of the house, everything clicked.

Sometimes creativity isn’t about adding more. It’s about knowing when to take something away.
No hay bale. No regrets. 🧡

Give me 30 pumpkins and a front porch… 🎃

Approximately 30 pumpkins went into each of these four porch transformations.
But no two designs look alike.

Different architecture. Different colors. Different scale. Different composition.

That’s the part I love most. Taking the same simple medium and creating something completely different for every home.

30 pumpkins. 4 looks. Endless possibilities.

You saw a glimpse earlier today. Now, come behind the scenes. 🎃

For me, every porch is a composition. I’m constantly looking at proportion, color, texture, movement, balance, and how your eye travels through the space.

Here’s a little look inside that process at this Milwaukee lakefront property, followed by the finished installation. 🍂

And because fall does not magically end on October 31, I’m extending Pumpkin This! design + installation into November.

Honestly? I think some of the prettiest fall porches are the ones that carry us right into Thanksgiving. 🧡
