A pair of twin built-ins for this living room, complementing the beautiful existing stone fireplace.

Note how the countertop matches the fireplace mantle, and the profile of the very top mimics the mantle top detail.

This homeowner had a superb design for these, and it was a privilege bringing her ideas to life.

I love how the subtle chamfer detail in the countertop turned out. What do you like most about it?

- Newel post & Handrail with wrought iron spindles

It was a pleasure using real wood for all the trim, 5-1/4” poplar baseboard and 3-1/4” poplar door and window casing.

Nice and simple cabinet install with integrated LED strip panels.

I’m a huge fan of under cabinet lighting, especially when they’re integrated so seamlessly with the cabinets.

Mantle created to match the beams.

Since it was installed after the stone, unlike the beams, it needed to be scribed to match the contour of the stone.

Distressed to appear like hundred year old, hand-hewn beams. The process to create the most authentic look was quite gratifying.

Here is some insight into my process for achieving a smooth paint finish.

The grain of red oak is quite pronounced, and if *just* painted, ends up looking like picture 2.

To make it smooth, the grain must be filled. And sanded. And filled. And sanded. And primed. And sanded. And filled. And sanded.. until it looks like this. Quality painting is much more than what meets the eye.
