REALITY ABOUT CONSTRUCTION PRICES IN 2026 🚧
A lot of people want 2020 construction prices with 2026 wages, fuel, insurance, equipment, and material costs. Unfortunately, that’s just not how construction works.
The cost of doing business has changed—and those increases have to be reflected in the price of a project.
Steel, lumber, concrete, equipment, fuel, freight, insurance, payroll, welding, fasteners, sheathing, and countless other expenses all add up before a project is even completed.
Trucks need fuel. Equipment needs maintenance. Employees need to be paid. Materials need to be purchased and delivered. Insurance and overhead have to be covered.
And one important thing to remember:
A contractor charging more today doesn't automatically mean they're making more profit. Sometimes the price is higher simply because the cost of completing the job has increased.
You can always choose the lowest estimate, but make sure you understand what is included—and what isn't.
Because when a price is too low, there is usually a reason.
Quality workmanship, proper materials, experienced labor, and doing the job right all have a cost.
