25 watts of sunlight doing the work your electric bill used to.
This is a solar powered attic exhaust fan we set high on the roof, up near the ridge where the hottest air stacks up. No wiring, no breaker, no added cost to run it. Sun hits the panel, the fan pulls, and all that superheated air that’s been baking your shingles from underneath finally gets out.
Notice the panel tilts. That’s not decoration — it gets aimed at the sun angle for this roof so the fan runs hard when the attic needs it most. And look at the flashing: galvanized, woven into the shingle courses, not caulked on top and hoped for. That’s the difference between a vent and a future leak.
Anybody can nail shingles the way it was done in 1985. The contractors worth calling are the ones paying attention to what’s available now — ventilation, underlayments, flashing details, materials that actually outlast the paperwork.
A roof is a system. Doing it right means using what we’ve got today.
Getting a roof done this year? Ask your contractor what their ventilation plan is. If they don’t have one, keep calling.
