This is a special one.

Featured on the cover of Architectural Digest, this extraordinary Atherton residence pairs the unmistakable architecture of Gehry Partners with interiors by The Wiseman Group—and lighting design by BLLD.
For a home where almost nothing follows convention, the lighting couldn’t either.

Our approach was to let the lighting work in concert with the architecture — revealing material and texture, emphasizing Gehry’s sculptural forms, illuminating an extraordinary collection of art, and creating a sense of intimacy throughout the home.

As daylight fades, the lighting transforms the experience again— interiors glow from within while architecture, art, and landscape emerge as illuminated moments against the night.

An extraordinary project, and one we’re incredibly honored to have been a part of.

A thread of light through six stories.

Designed around a central atrium that connects nearly every level of this Bay Area headquarters, the workplace turns circulation into a place for gathering and connection. A sweeping installation of suspended lamps moves through the open volume, visually linking stairs, bridges, and shared spaces, while integrated and decorative lighting creates warmer, more intimate moments throughout the cafés, lounges, and communal areas.

The result is lighting that works across two very different scales—bringing energy to the architecture while creating comfortable places to work, meet, and stay awhile.

A marketplace designed to glow.

At Saluhall in San Francisco, light and color come together to shape a vibrant, two-level culinary destination inspired by Nordic civic spaces. Luminous vendor fronts create bold landmarks throughout the hall, while layered architectural and decorative lighting brings warmth and rhythm to the shared spaces in between—creating an environment designed for gathering, discovery, and connection.

Designed to complement the view, not compete with it.

At this Telegraph Hill residence, lighting is carefully integrated throughout the architecture and landscape to enhance the home’s rich materials while preserving its dramatic views across San Francisco and the Bay. Subtle exterior illumination extends the experience into the landscape, allowing the city and water panoramas to remain the focus.

Where history and atmosphere meet.
At Wayfare Tavern, the lighting design builds on the warmth and character of the restaurant’s storied interiors. Layers of soft illumination bring depth to rich materials and architectural details, while intimate pools of light shape the dining experience and the glowing bar remains at the heart of the room.

A neighborhood favorite, thoughtfully reimagined.
At Flour+Water in San Francisco, the design centers around the kitchen—bringing the craft of food and ingredients into focus. Through a close collaboration with the chef, lighting and materiality work together to create a cohesive, immersive experience that feels both grounded and intentional.
