I always appreciate seeing how paint colors read in other people’s homes and also the coordinating colors, styling, etc. they’re paired with.

Of course with photo filters and simply the difference in lighting from space to space, it’s hard to tell how a color might actually read in our own homes. But nonetheless I still find it helpful in narrowing the paint search sometimes, so here are our paint colors. Comment LINK and I’ll DM all linkable paints over to you. Mudroom Wainscoting: Kilz, International Gray. We did a flat finish, but highly recommend at least semi-glass for durability on wainscoting in a mudroom/back hall.

Treehouse Bathroom: Behr, Swiss Coffee, Satin Finish

Leo’s Room: HGTV Home by Sherwin Williams, Interesting Aqua, Satin Finish

Main Bath Wainscoting: Benjamin Moore, Horizon Gray, Semi-gloss Finish

Living Room/Dining Room: Benjamin Moore, White, Satin Finish — Yes, you read that right—just plain old ‘White’.

A look around these parts. 👀
Leo’s color-washed room is like a big hug when you walk in. We recently converted to a big-boy Jenny Lind bed that my friend generously let us Buy-Nothing from her. ❤️ Leo is so proud—Can’t wait to show you.

Also, my Christmas amaryllis bloomed for the 2nd time and the paperwhites grew up, but never bloomed? I’m kiiind of ok with it though because I don’t actually love the smell of paperwhites flowers. It’s the greenery I enjoy the most. Anyone else tepid on the scent of paperwhites?

I’ve been harboring a little project! My mom and I have been working on my parents’ kitchen at the Treehouse! I should say this is my mom’s baby, and I’ve been more like a consultant helping steer her when she needs input.

Their home is tucked in the woods on a lake, and built into a hill so the kitchen feels like you’re up in the treetops and is super serene.

As we were getting started, the one thing my mom knew for sure was she wanted the warmth of wood cabinetry. They landed on rift cut white oak for the perimeter + walnut for the island. The cabinets are just about to go in and the grain on the drawer fronts is just too good! 🤌Swipe to the last pic to see.

Kitchen renovations are not for the faint of heart. Its a long time to go without cooking an actual meal and there are only so many things you can make out of a microwave, but it’s going to be so worth it! I can’t wait for this kitchen to come together!

I’m averaging about 2 presents wrapped per day—squeezing it in here and there depending on who’s home.
I’ve started storing a small amount of wrap, tape and scissors tucked in the far side of the cabinet, so it’s handy when I have a free second. It’s probably not the most effective MO, but it’s how I avoid pulling a Christmas Eve all-nighter wrap-fest.

And on the subject of wrapping, I’m mostly re-using the Kraft paper stuffing that comes in packages to wrap gifts and it’s working great! I think I saw mention this and it’s such a great way to cut down waste and wrapping paper costs. Add a pretty ribbon (try to re-use also from year to year) and all set!

On a separate note, we’re one month with our drapery in the living room, and I’m still riding high. They’ve really helped balance the space, and it now feels so luxe and cozy—I very much recommend. Use code ERINFRANCOIS for 15% off your order.

A show of hands— who’s got cookies on their radar this week? We have this tradition of delivering homemade caramel to friends and neighbors right before Christmas, and this year, we’re adding English toffee to the mix. (Ken’s favorite!) The full recipe is on the blog, and whether you’re a seasoned baker or not, this recipe is for you. I’m serious, no experience needed. I’m devastated to share we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy, Gideon, yesterday. After an 8 month battle with heart disease and congestive heart failure, he is finally at peace. I’m relieved he’s no longer suffering, but it doesn’t help me miss him any less.

My first born. He was the best, silly, dapper cat, who loved being in front of the camera, and was full of personality and mischief. My best bud who loved to chase me and be chased around the house. He brought our family 9 wonderful years of joy.

My heart is incredibly heavy, the house is empty, and I’m so missing his nightly snuggles. He was truly a one-of-kind guy and I’ll be forever grateful for the 9 years we were lucky enough to spend with him.

In the words of A.A. Milne, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”

The tree is up and excitement is palpable! We went to a tree farm for our tree this year and came home with quite a hefty, wide one. So wide, they had trouble fitting it through the baler to wrap it up for us . 😬 Why do trees always seem smaller in the field?! The tree you see decorated here had *several* bottom branches removed before setting it up in the corner. The couch is scooted way down, and we had to rearrange a whole bunch, but she sure is a beaut, Clark, isn’t she?

We didn’t do a curated ‘look’ for the tree, unless you call letting-your-kids-go-nuts-putting-up-their-favorites, a look. 😄 These days I value more the tradition of decorating the tree together than the actual decorated tree itself. But in its own way, it’s a picture perfect tree. My personal favorite is the tight cluster of ornaments at the bottom, from you know who. 👦

It snowed here all day yesterday! The light, ornamental kind that just makes you sooo excited and ready for the Holidays! It’s melting now, but I’m still riding yesterday’s high. 🤗 To be clear, I’m very much a snow-for-Christmas-but-melt-in-January-kind-of-person, but I know that’s wishful thinking!
