The wait is over, and the final photos are revealed! 📸✨

We are incredibly excited to give you a look inside our recently completed Newtown project.
If you’ve been following our updates, you know we’ve spent months refining the spatial
layouts, agonizing over the details, and collaborating closely with our incredible trades to
bring this vision to life.

For this home, the design language is all about balancing architectural flow with quiet,
intentional moments. We focused heavily on how the spaces connect, ensuring that every
transition—from the main living areas to the private zones—feels seamless and intuitive.

Step inside and you’ll find a refined, tactile material palette that brings both warmth and
sophistication to the interiors.

Every detail you see is the result of hours on site, endless sketches, and a commitment to
honest, thoughtful design.

A massive thank you to our wonderful clients and the dedicated team who helped us translate 3D concepts into this beautiful reality.

Brownbill | Interiors

Architecture is often at its best in the spaces between. At our Brownbill project, we’ve utilised the threshold between the existing dwelling and the new extension to create a highly functional—and beautiful—spatial transition.

Rather than just a hallway, this “bridge” between old and new serves a dual purpose:

• The Smart Study Nook: We’ve captured the space between the original structure and the rear addition to integrate a quiet, sun-drenched study. It’s a productive pocket that utilizes every centimeter of the site’s footprint.

• Defining Separation: This transition zone provides the necessary physical and visual separation to allow for the new stairs and second-story addition to sit comfortably alongside the heritage fabric of the home.
The Architectural Standout? The handrail. More than just an aesthetic choice, we’ve integrated discreet LED lighting directly into the handrail. It’s a masterclass in “form meeting function”—providing a clean, minimalist glow that enhances safety and guides you through the home after dark with subtle light on the American oak stairs.

By rethinking the “thoroughfare,” we’ve transformed a simple circulation path into a standout architectural moment that feels both grounded in history and elevated by modern design.

Do you prefer a clear “old vs. new” look in an extension, or a seamless blend? 👇

Ever wondered how a multi-dwelling project takes shape from the very first spark of an idea?

We’re taking you behind the scenes of the concept design for our recently completed Torquay Townhouses.

Here, you can see our preliminary 3D renders – simple, yet powerful tools used in our early client presentations.

These aren’t just about aesthetics; they are about defining volume, light, and flow. At this stage, our focus is on:

• Optimising the Site’s Potential: Ensuring every square metre is used intelligently to provide the best lifestyle outcome for future residents

• Regulatory Precision: We use these models to ensure the design complies with planning and building regulations from day one. Navigating these requirements early is key to ensuring as smooth a process as possible through the approvals phase.

• Optimising Orientation: Making sure each townhouse captures the best of the coastal light and those iconic ocean breezes.

• Site Integration & Spatial Flow: Testing how the development harmonizes with Torquay’s unique surfcoast character and the streetscape while maximizing privacy and connection to the landscape.

Using these early models allows our clients to visualize scale and form, providing the feedback that guides the design toward its full potential. It’s a collaborative journey, ensuring every home feels perfectly suited to the laid-back Torquay lifestyle.

Projects like this are becoming more feasible with recent planning amendments creating opportunities for fast track permits for dual occupancy. If you want to know more feel free to reach out and ascertain if this is applicable to your situation.

Berry | Interiors

Continuing our look back at the East Melbourne Victorian Terrace, we’re diving into the more private, functional zones of the home.

In heritage footprints, the challenge is always spatial efficiency—delivering modern luxury without compromising on the home’s original character.
Our solution was to create a highly considered service hub that feels as elevated as the main
living spaces:

- The Smart Use of Space: By anchoring the layout around the internal lightwell, we seamlessly integrated a powder room, laundry, and shower. This strategy draws natural light deep into the center of the plan, turning traditionally dark zones into bright, breathable spaces.

- The Family Sanctuary: In the main bathroom, we prioritized a luxurious freestanding bath as the focal point. It’s a space designed for retreat, balancing high-
end aesthetics with the practical needs of a modern household.

- The Palette: A continuation of the home’s tactile language—think bespoke stone and refined finishes that bridge the gap between Victorian heritage and a contemporary lifestyle.

By rethinking the floor plan, we’ve transformed these utilitarian areas into a bright, airy sanctuary that feels both grounded and elevated.

Gnarwarre | Modern Farmhouse

We’re pulling back the curtain on the design process for our substantial new farmhouse in Gnarwarre.

For us, the architecture and interiors aren’t separate—they are a single, cohesive story.

As part of our design process we leverage the advanced modelling software to virtually “walk
through” the clients through every room, testing how the light interacts with the interior volumes and how the farmhouse responds to the surrounding landscape.

These renders are our roadmap, ensuring every detail is refined before we break ground.

The countdown to construction is officially on, with this project starting in 2026, we can’t wait to see how it comes to life.

Texture is doing all the talking today. ✨

A first look at the façade of one of our latest residential projects, where the grit of recycled brick meets the crisp, vertical lines of white standing seam cladding.

It’s all about that perfect tension between heritage warmth and modern minimalism, and we’ve created a look that’s sustainable, durable, and undeniably fresh.
We’re obsessed with how the sunlight hits these grooves.

What do you think of this material pairing? 👇

Brownbill | Interiors | Kitchen

Located at the rear of the existing heritage dwelling is the extension which contains the kitchen, living & dining spaces.

The client wanted a light filled space, which provided a challenge with the sloping, south facing block - the solution, skylights, windows and introducing another courtyard to let that light from the north in.

The flooring transitions at the archway between the old and new, with American red oak boards used to blend with the original Baltic, followed by the stunning American oak herringbone floor in the kitchen living dining zones.

The joinery provides ample bench space with deep benches and large island, and blends the tones and textures of the dwelling perfectly. The gunmetal tones are included through joinery handles and the tapware and sink that bring a touch of class.

The easy VJ wall contains a sliding door concealing a large pantry with appliance bench and further under stair storage. The result - a very functional & aesthetically pleasing kitchen!

Berry | Exterior | Facades

Another throwback post to a previous project, taking a closer look at the heart of our East Melbourne Victorian Terrace project. The heritage facade was meticulously restored, with all metalwork repaired and repainted, and over 100 years of degradation to timber elements repaired.

Through completing these works we’ve ensured this dwelling sat proud in its streetscape allowing it to feature for many years to come.

Site Visits | Virginia

Another peak behind the curtain of the Architectural process with a visit to one of the projects under construction in Newtown.

This project is part of a row of projects that we will progressively reveal over the coming months as they approach completion. It has been a long but rewarding process to get to this point, with collaboration with consultants, clients and negotiations with council to navigate complex heritage overlays, through to construction. We look forward to seeing the final results for the clients on this great project!

The project is constructed with a mix of metal standing seam cladding contrasted with the grey of the Smokey grey bricks and concrete look render.

The brickwork craftsmanship and detail stands out with feature courses and protruding bricks providing relief and architectural interest with the shadows throughout the day.

The standing seam cladding and roofing was very technical, and the team at mag were amazing collaborating and working through the details to get this one to come up as amazing as it has 👌
