A while ago we posted the Slim Cabinet, a collab between Kassa Studio and Popstrukt - Furniture & Homeware. Here’s where it started.

Adriaan from Popstrukt saw these bird baths and knew immediately. That instinct led to a phone call, then a conversation, then eighteen months of work.

Three architectural sculptures. Powder-coated steel, concrete base, handmade by local artisans. Designed for a client who will never appreciate any of this. The birds don’t care, but you will.

Ten years in finance. One wine rack made from pallet slats and PVC tubes. That was enough to know.

Dille Thomas founded Studio Dilli in Cape Town after leaving one of the Netherlands’ biggest banks. Not a crisis. Not a breakdown. Just two worlds he couldn’t combine anymore.

The work he’s making now - hand-tiled modular objects, infinity-loop coffee tables, consoles that hide their drawers inside the geometry - doesn’t look like the output of someone who started over. It looks like someone who finally started.

Twenty years as a fine artist. Then furniture. The Akan Solo Seater makes sense when you know that about Tshidzo Mangena.

Korine and Sanet design objects with the kind of patience most studios don’t have. spent eighteen months on this one — a collaboration with Popstrukt - Furniture & Homeware that started because Adriaan saw their bird baths and knew immediately.

The Slim Cabinet. Powder-coated steel. Laser-cut geometry drawn from urban facades and architectural rhythm. Four shelves, a door that opens either direction, and a footprint narrow enough for the wall beside your front door that nothing else ever fits.

Built properly. Limited run.

Johannesburg has a furniture studio making rooms that look like they mean it.
furniture Brother and sister. Bold colour, named pieces, a showroom you can actually visit. They built it because the alternative - safe, catalogue-ready, emotionally inert furniture - wasn’t worth building.

Interior designers: this one belongs on your radar. Save this.

A needle. Organic cotton yarn, hand-dyed. Straw. A bundle wrapped tight, then tighter. This is how Tuareg women from Northern Mali have made basket lids for celebration platters for generations. .a.k.s looked at that technique and saw a lamp.

The Ihaya. The Oude. The Bella. Each one coiled by hand in Burkina Faso, finished with vegetable-tan leather and hand-beaten copper or bronze. No two the same. That’s not a marketing line. It’s just what happens when a human makes something.

This collection deserves a ceiling.

PHLAT pushes recycled board into something you’d actually choose first. Clean forms, reflective details, and pieces that hold their own in a space.
