The architect is drawing. The plans look beautiful.
And then the interior starts…

Where does everything go?
Why doesn't the sofa fit the wall we planned?
Why is there no place for the things we use every day?

I designed every room of both homes myself and sat at the table with the builder and every supplier.
And that's where I learned it:

Your brain just tried to put you in a box.

It's not a flaw, it's psychology. Our brain sorts everything into categories, into little drawers, so it can decide faster and save energy. Fruit. Music. People. Styles.

That's useful in the supermarket.
In your home, it costs you.

Because the moment you say "I'm modern" or "I'm mid-century", you start living in someone else's drawer. You choose what fits the label, not what fits you.

Styles and trends are beautiful inspiration.
They show you what's possible.

None of these pieces belong to the same style.

A rug that looks like it has travelled for generations.

And that's exactly why it works.

Because a home with character isn't built from one style.
It's built from pieces that tell your story. Where you come from, what you love, how you want to feel when you walk in.
