🍂 GUTTER GUARD – IS IT REALLY WORTH YOUR MONEY? 🤔💰
We’re probably going to upset a few gutter guard companies with this one… but we’re going to say it anyway! 😂
At NLZY Pressure Washing, we’re all about being honest with our customers, even if that means recommending NOT to spend your hard-earned money!
Let’s talk about gutter guard and why we’re generally NOT fans of it! 👇
✅ THE PROS (Yes, there are a few!)
✔️ Can help stop larger leaves and branches entering your gutters.
✔️ May reduce how frequently your gutters need cleaning.
✔️ Can be beneficial for certain properties surrounded by large trees, provided the right system is installed.
❌ NOW, HERE’S WHAT THEY DON’T ALWAYS TELL YOU!
🚫 1. YOUR GUTTERS STILL NEED CLEANING!
That’s right! Gutter guard does NOT mean maintenance-free gutters. Dirt, dust, fine debris and organic matter can still build up underneath the guard.
🚫 2. CLEANING BECOMES MORE EXPENSIVE!
Without gutter guard, we can generally access your gutters and remove the debris.
With gutter guard? Depending on the system, sections may need to be removed and reinstalled, increasing labour time and potentially your cleaning bill!
🚫 3. DEBRIS CAN BUILD UP ON TOP!
Leaves, twigs and other debris can accumulate on top of gutter guard, potentially restricting water flow and causing overflowing gutters during heavy rainfall.
🚫 4. MOSS AND PLANTS CAN STILL GROW! 🌱
We’ve seen it! Dirt and organic matter can collect around and underneath gutter guards, creating the perfect environment for unwanted vegetation.
🚫 5. THEY CAN HIDE BIGGER PROBLEMS!
Blocked downpipes, rust, deteriorating gutters and trapped debris can be harder to spot when everything is covered up.
🚫 6. THE UPFRONT COST! 💸
Some gutter guard systems can cost thousands of dollars to install.
And here’s the kicker…
YOU STILL HAVE TO MAINTAIN THEM!
💭 SO, WHAT DO WE RECOMMEND?
For most residential properties, we’d much rather see homeowners put that money towards regular, professional gutter cleaning!
✅ No expensive gutter guard installation.
✅ Easier access for cleaning and inspections.
✅ Better opportunity to identify gutter damage.
✅ Debris actually gets removed, rather than simply being kept above the gutter.
Now, we’re not saying every gutter guard system is useless. Some properties genuinely benefit from them.
But in our opinion, for many homes, they’re simply not worth the money!
