Bespoke homewares handmade in Australia, India and Morocco with love. 💙 A passion for hand blockprinted fabrics were the inspiration for the creation of herindigo designs. Block print fabric is a centuries old traditional method of fabric printing. Motifs/designs are predominantly carved into wooden blocks, printed by hand using natural dyes and often mud "resist" methods, to achieve beautiful block printed fabrics. The printing "anomalies" that you may see on the fabric pays homage to the hand printed method used, adding charm and uniqueness to every piece. We are hoping that our designs will help keep the art of block printing alive for many more centuries to come.

A sneak peek of some treasures I picked up on my Moroccan adventure. I brought back a collection of vintage cactus silk cushion covers. Handwoven from agave plant fibre. Incredibly strong but soft at the same time. Very special pieces. It might take me a while to get these up on my website so if you’re interested in seeing the full collection and further details now, please don’t hesitate to get in contact. ❤️🌵

I can’t wait to show you the beautiful treasures I picked up on my travels through Morocco (once they arrive). I did however bring back these two special vintage cushion covers (repurposed from vintage rugs) in my suitcase. I found these in Chefchaouen. But I’m keeping these for myself … sorry. ❤️✨

I’m now back home from my fabulous trip to Morocco. What an amazing adventure we’ve had! A highlight was visiting Abdul from 𝔽 𝕒 𝕕 𝕞 𝕒 ℝ 𝕦 𝕘 𝕤 in Marrakech to do some serious rug shopping! 😂 There’s nothing Abdul does not know about Moroccan rugs. His rug studio is a must visit when in Marrakech. He has an endless supply of all styles and sizes of Moroccan rugs old and new. So fabulous! ❤️🌈💚✨💙

We had another very special day yesterday. We visited the The Anou Cooperative | Shipping worldwide! ✈️ cooperative and partook in a wool dyeing workshop using natural herbs and spices. This cooperative founded in Fes supports women weavers from rural communities all over Morocco. We had the fortune to meet some truly special ladies and we learned each step to produce beautiful dyed yarns. First step was to walk to the nearby market and choose our spices. We chose madder root to make a pinky red colour, ground turmeric which made a rich marigold colour and walnut peel for a rich brown. We then poured our spices into big pots of boiling water and while they stewed we prepared our yarn by rolling them into 100g balls. Then into the pots they went. They steeped for about an hour and then we took them upstairs to the rooftop to wash the residual dye out. We then put them in a very rustic washing machine to spin dry them. We were then able to take them home to hang overnight to fully dry them. I asked if they could make some gorgeous tassels out of mine and the lovely ladies gladly obliged. Such a fabulous experience. And it was an honour to meet such wonderful ladies sharing their amazing crafts with us. Deb is actually a weaver herself, so she is going to weave a few special pieces for herself and her daughter with her yarns (and a few more yarns purchased from their studio). What a day!

I’m now in Fes! First time here and already I’m feeling the grandness and ancient history of this city. We couldn’t have asked for a better first day. We booked an artisan tour of the Medina through Arts & Culture Org 👉🏽 Morocco and it was outstanding. Our wonderful guide Zahi took us to see so many amazing off the beaten track master artisans at work. They work in the tiniest workshops hidden down alleyways and up on rooftops which you would never discover on your own let alone be allowed to visit them. Such a privilege. We visited Zelige tile workers, tinsmiths, leather workers, weavers and silk yarn brocade workers. Oh and we also visited the oldest tannery in the world. Fascinating but very stinky! All master artisans, most with over 50 years experience. Many of them started their craft at such an early age. One of them at 5 years old! It was one of the best days I’ve ever experienced. It’s a must do tour if you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Fes. I’m sure we will revisit some of these artisans so there will be more pictures to come! ✨❤️✨

I am in Morocco! So wonderful to be back. I just spent a few magical days in the Blue City of Chefchaouen. It’s a blue fairyland! The highlight was visiting a Cooperative/weaving school where I was so lucky to meet some lovely Amazigh weavers (ladies) and ogle after some beautiful vintage carpets. These ladies live and weave in the Rif mountains above Chefchaouen. I also sourced a pile of amazing vintage cactus silk cushion covers. Such a privilege! 💙💙💙
