Student work from the BIA sumi-e workshop 🌸🖌️A beautiful piece from one of our students at last weekend’s sumi-e workshop with Yumiko (KINYU) Kigoshi Sensei at Brisbane Institute of Art.

Over two days, students explored flowers and insects in black ink and vivid Gansai pigments, experimenting with gelatine, dosaeki and shironuki and discovering how different papers shape texture and tone.

Inspired by what you see? Yumiko Sensei is open for private and group classes in Sumi-e & Calligraphy, with Japanese morning tea included. 🍵

📍 Carina, and at various locations in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast when required.
