Sally & Brigid have just been on a jaunt in the van to get some plant goodies from Mole River Native Nursery (who are sadly closing down at the end of this year). Some of these will be in store tomorrow & some will be potted up for future sale.

~ Plant of the week ~
Xanthorroea johnsonii - NATIVE GRASS TREE
This week we are featuring a gorgeous native grass tree with a thick trunk that gets up to 5 m tall. The scape can reach 1.9 m and the flower spike is rich in nectar attracting small nectar feeding birds, pollinators, and species of native bees. It loves full sun to a light shade aspect, and well drained to sites.

APHRODITES DREAM
This dreamy but hardy Gevillea grows up to 2.5m high x 1.5m wide with stunning flowers of peachy, pinky & orangey tones all year round attracting birds & pollinators. It loves well drained soils, full sun and a light prune occasionally to maintain its dense, compact habit or to keep to a shorter size.
Great for water wise or coastal gardens, as a feature, cut flower or part of an informal screen.

We also have Aussie Reflection (silvery foliage with yellow buttons flowers) amongst our goodies as well.

If you are looking for species endemic to the Tweed region, we’ve got a couple of lovely ones to feature for you:
Prostanthera ovalifolia - Purple Mint Bush. Gorgeous purple flowers, edible minty leaves, growing to 3m tall. Loves dappled shade & well drained soil. Benefits from yearly pruning to prevent it from getting woody & to improve density & flowering.
Brachyscome microcarpa - Forest Daisy. A groundcover with cute mauve flowers that needs well drained soil & afternoon shade.

There is so much to explore in our nursery: foliage plants, flowering shrubs, rainforest trees, grasses, water plants & much more.
