Please read this article and digest what has been said. The Sydney area is only required to inspect every 3 years to remain compliant. Now QLD has spent over a Billion dollars of public funds to manage the RFIA whilst NSW bio security has played fast and loose with their protocols.

We have just completed our best practice nursery certification so that we can ship Australia wide and self certify. And I can tell you it’s much more detailed than a three year inspection.

So yes we now ship to WA with correct compliance. Shop till you drop. Fire Ant free

We’re calling for an urgent independent review, after news today that the fire ant nests found at a major Sydney freight hub could have been undetected for 12 months or more.

Concerningly, the site was fully compliant with every Commonwealth surveillance requirement. That's a sign that our biosecurity system is not fit for purpose.

Lures at the Enfield Intermodal Logistics Centre, where the nest was found, hadn’t been checked since 2023, yet the business was only required to check them every three years. And the site, which processes and transports around 80,000 international shipping containers across NSW and interstate ever year, is only rated as at 'medium' risk of a biosecurity breach.

‘Checking for fire ants once every three years makes no sense when a colony can reach reproductive maturity in around six months,’ says our Advocacy Director Reece Pianta.

‘It is alarming that the biosecurity system at Enfield was working as designed, yet a mature fire ant nest was still able to go undetected for so long.’

We’ve written to Agriculture Minister Julie Collins and the Inspector-General of Biosecurity. We’re asking for an independent look at whether surveillance at freight hubs across Australia are fit for purpose.

Good morning all,

A quick update for the people who ask how Indie is going. She is growing and coming into her own, she loves to work and we endeavour to give her many jobs to keep her interested and developing. These include things such as obedience, security and bite work, she loves playing ball but not great on giving the ball back also loves walks. We continue to socialise her and often take her to the pub for a meal and to the markets on the weekend where she is surrounded by new noises and smells etc. On the topic of smells we have been training Indie to do tracking with the help of Paul from Summerland Dog Training. On the weekend we had the privilege of completing an Urban Tracking course with Indie, it was 2 busy nights that went from 6pm till after midnight. Indie was fantastic and loved the challenge and was awarded her level one certificate in urban tracking. This required her to track a person over 250m through an urban area, the track had to cross at least one road with at least one right angle turn and she wasnt allowed to see the person leave and had to wait 10 minutes before she could begin and only had 8 minutes to complete the task. We will be continuing this with as she loves the work and is very good at it and hopefully we will get her to sit her level 2 test in the not to distant future.
